And there\u2019s still a lot of city employees who are not vaccinated,\u201d Bill de Blasio told CNN Wednesday. \u201cI want to protect them. I want to protect their families. I want to protect all the people that they come in contact within this city.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLaw enforcement has borne the brunt of COVID. In this nation in the last two years, 460 law enforcement officers have been lost to COVID. We\u2019ve got to protect them,\u201d he added. \u201cThis vaccine mandate allows us to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-extras trending\">\n<strong>TRENDING:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegatewaypundit.com\/2021\/10\/newly-released-video-shows-jan-6-political-prisoner-jeremy-brown-saving-female-trump-supporter-trampled-capitol-police-must-see-end\/\" data-type=\"Internal link\" data-type-location=\"in-content-trending\">Newly Released Video Shows Jan. 6 Political Prisoner Jeremy Brown Saving a Female Trump Supporter Who Was Trampled by Capitol Police &#8211; MUST SEE UNTIL THE END!<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>This is going to be a disaster for New York City because only 55% of the city\u2019s firefighters are vaccinated and only 68% of NYPD officers are vaccinated.<\/p>\n<p>NBC New York <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnewyork.com\/news\/local\/nyc-to-expand-vaccine-mandates-eliminating-test-out-option-for-city-workers\/3324600\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"30\">\n<p>New York City is expanding its COVID-19 vaccine mandate to all public employees with no test-out option, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Deadlines are different for the NYPD and FDNY versus corrections officers, but the message is the same, according to the mayor\u2019s office: Those who serve the community must take responsibility to protect the people within it and themselves.<\/p>\n<p>Effective immediately, city employees will receive $500 in their paychecks if they get their first shot at a city-run vaccination site, according to the mayor\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p>The new rules affect more than 160,000 workers (including police, firefighters and correctional officers), 70% of whom already had at least one shot.
