Trump dismissed the dossier as a \u201choax.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think there are parts of the dossier which have been stood up, there are parts of the dossier that haven\u2019t been stood up,\u201d Steele told Stephanopoulos. \u201cAnd there are one or two things in it which have been proven wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On the most salacious allegation, that Russian authorities had filmed Trump being urinated on by prostitutes in 2013 in a Moscow hotel room, Steele said he still believes footage of that event \u201cprobably does\u201d exist.<\/p>\n<p>A December 2019 Justice Department inspector general report found that \u201ccertain allegations\u201d in the dossier \u201cwere inaccurate or inconsistent\u201d with the FBI\u2019s Russian investigation of the Trump campaign and that \u201cthe limited information that was corroborated related to time, location, and title information, much of which was publicly available.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo you accept that conclusion?\u201d Stephanopoulos pressed Steele.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think they are putting too much store, frankly, into what FBI knew about early on in the campaign,\u201d Steele responded. \u201cI think the FBI is generally an effective organization. I\u2019m not sure the extent to which FBI has got good coverage of Moscow and Moscow politics and Moscow operations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The FBI cited the dossier in applications for Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrants to surveil the Trump campaign in 2016.
