More than 10,000 John Deere workers went on strike Thursday after they rejected a contract offer from the company. Theirs was one of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/business\/2021\/10\/17\/strikes-great-resignation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">178 worker strikes<\/a> to take place so far in 2021, 12 of which involved more than 1,000 employees, according to The Washington Post. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/23\/new-york-city-bill-de-blasio-public-schools-vaccine-mandate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: New York City Mandates Vaccinations For 148,000 School Teachers, Staff)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Vaccine mandates are also taking a toll on workers, with hundreds of current and former Southwest Airlines employees <a href=\"https:\/\/dfw.cbslocal.com\/2021\/10\/18\/dallas-southwest-protest-vaccine-manadate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">protesting the company\u2019s mandate<\/a> outside its headquarters in Dallas, Texas. The airline was forced to cancel or delay hundreds of flights in recent weeks, news that came amid reports that pilots had organized a sick-out in protest against vaccine mandates. Both Southwest Airlines CEO Gary Kelly and the Southwest Airlines Pilots Association <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ReutersBiz\/status\/1448133894889422849\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">denied reports<\/a> of a protest, however.<\/p>\n<p>Southwest Airlines President Mike Van de Ven <a href=\"https:\/\/dfw.cbslocal.com\/2021\/10\/18\/dallas-southwest-protest-vaccine-manadate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">released a statement<\/a> echoing Kelly, claiming the cancellations and delays were due to weather.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a result, our aircraft and crews were not in their pre-planned positions to operate our schedule on Saturday,\u201d Van de Ven said. \u201cUnfortunately, the out-of-place aircraft and crew resources created additional cancellations \u2026 that cascaded throughout the weekend and into Monday and Tuesday.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur employees worked heroically in the midst of these adverse conditions and many came in on off days, or flew additional trips, to help the airline recover.
