(Photo by Drew Angerer\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h5>OAN Newsroom<br \/>UPDATED 11:48 AM PT \u2013 Friday, October 15, 2021<\/h5>\n<p>The Biden administration is set to revive the Trump-era \u201cRemain in Mexico\u201d immigration policy.<\/p>\n<p>The administration is planning to restart the policy in November in order to comply with a federal court order issued earlier this year. Joe Biden had originally decided to end the policy because he said too many migrants were facing violence in Mexico while awaiting their court date.<\/p>\n<p>According to officials, the administration is aiming to make several changes to the rule, which requires asylum seekers to wait in Mexico for court hearings. Officials have also been holding talks with the Mexican government in order to address concerns they have about the reinstatement.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Republicans have been calling for President Biden to reinstate the Trump-era &#8220;Remain in Mexico&#8221; policy for 9 months. What took him so long?<\/p>\n<p>Will he now forcefully implement this effective border security tool or will the Biden version of Remain in Mexico just be window dressing?<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Kevin McCarthy (@GOPLeader) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GOPLeader\/status\/1449048946576347140?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 15, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security addressed the situation in a statement, saying \u201cas noted in the declaration filed on Thursday, DHS is taking necessary steps to comply with the court order, which requires us to reimplement MPP [Migrant Protection Protocols] in good faith.
