The commission is \u201clooking at and examining \u2026 the Court\u2019s role in the constitutional system, the length of service and turnover of the justices on the Court, the membership and size of the Court, and the Court selection rules and practices,\u201d according to Psaki.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a legal matter, we conclude that Congress has broad power to structure the Supreme Court by expanding (or contracting) the number of Justices,\u201d the Supreme Court Commission <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/MEMBERSHIP-AND-SIZE-OF-THE-COURT_.pdf\">noted<\/a>.&nbsp;\u201cThe prudential question is more difficult, and Commissioners are divided on whether Court expansion would be wise.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRecent polls suggest that a majority of the public does not support Court expansion. (Photo by Jim Lo Scalzo-Pool\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Some <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/15\/democrats-joe-biden-supreme-court\/\">Democrats<\/a> have pushed for adding Supreme Court justices, particularly in light of the Court\u2019s current <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/09\/19\/democrats-pack-supreme-court-trump-nominates-ruth-ginsburg-seat\/\">conservative<\/a> lean. The commission fulfills a campaign promise from Biden to create such a review, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/04\/09\/us\/politics\/biden-supreme-court-packing.html\">according<\/a> to The New York Times. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2018\/06\/28\/democrats-pack-supreme-court\/\">(RELATED:&nbsp;These Leftists Want Democrats To Pack The Supreme Court Once Trump Is Gone)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The commission, made up of 36 members, noted that \u201cthe risks of court expansion are considerable\u201d and suggested \u201cit could undermine the very goal of some of its proponents of restoring the court\u2019s legitimacy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the country and the political system were to be embroiled in repeated fights over court expansion, that alone could harm the Supreme Court\u2019s public reputation,\u201d the readout added.<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court Commission also explored the idea of setting term limits for Supreme Court justices, suggesting that something like an 18-year limit has \u201cwidespread and bipartisan support.\u201d This idea has the backing of multiple current Supreme Court justices, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2021\/10\/14\/biden-commission-weighs-supreme-court-packing-draft-report\/8444099002\/\">according<\/a> to USA Today.<\/p>\n<p>Various polls have shown a decrease in the Supreme Court\u2019s approval rating. A Gallup poll <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/23\/supreme-court-approval-rating-new-low-gallup-poll\/\">published<\/a> mid-September found that only 40% of respondents approve of how the court \u201cis handling its job.\u201d These polls <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2021\/10\/14\/biden-commission-weighs-supreme-court-packing-draft-report\/8444099002\/\">coincide<\/a> with major upcoming battles over topics like Roe v.
