Delta Air Lines refuted the claim in a statement.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Instagram post includes a screen grab of a <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.mercola.com\/sites\/vitalvotes\/archive\/2021\/10\/12\/vaxxed-delta-pilot-dies-inflight-southwest-flights-have-mass-cancellations.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">blog post<\/a> from Dr. Joseph Mercola, who has,&nbsp;according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/07\/24\/technology\/joseph-mercola-coronavirus-misinformation-online.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The New York Times<\/a>, spread COVID-19-related misinformation in the past. It briefly references the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/10\/12\/southwest-airlines-reduces-cancellations-after-mass-cancellations-from-staffing-shortage.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">over 2,000 flights<\/a> that Southwest canceled over the weekend due to what the airline <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SouthwestAir\/status\/1446915196438581254\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">described as<\/a> air traffic control and weather issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVaxxed Delta Pilot Dies In-Flight; Southwest Flights Have Mass Cancellations,\u201d reads text inside the image. \u201cDelta pilot who died in-flight within the last 10 days. The co-pilot said he just suddenly died. The co-pilot also shared that the pilot said he\u2019d just gotten his second COVID shot a few days earlier.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The claim about a vaccinated Delta pilot dying mid-flight was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bitchute.com\/video\/O4f0a97AGUTw\/?fbclid=IwAR1_ZgbFMXE9QevTrFg5k-d0NWa1rwzBW1uIOGl5OUFAxgC2GkmyxIjW5Og\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">also recently spread<\/a> by Dr. Jane Ruby on \u201cThe Stew Peters Show.\u201d In her appearance on the show, she alleged three sources had told her a vaccinated pilot based out of Los Angeles died mid-flight recently, causing an emergency landing of the aircraft. Ruby previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/brucelee\/2021\/07\/10\/graphene-oxide-in-pfizer-covid-19-vaccines-here-are-the-latest-unsupported-claims\/?sh=a8836fa74d71\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">falsely claimed<\/a> the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine contains graphene oxide, an allegation Check Your Fact <a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/07\/12\/fact-check-pfizer-covid-vaccine-graphene-oxide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">has debunked<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDelta is aware of reports suggesting one of the airline\u2019s pilots passed away from vaccine complications while operating a flight, resulting in an emergency landing. All of these allegations are false,\u201d a spokesperson for Delta Air Lines said in an emailed statement to Check Your Fact. \u201cThe pandemic has been an incredibly tragic time for many, and our hearts go out to the hundreds of thousands of families of those who have passed away from the horrific virus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alpa.org\/en\/about-alpa\/our-pilot-groups\/pilot-groups\/delta\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Air Line Pilots Association, International<\/a> (ALPA), the union that represents Delta pilots, told Check Your Fact via email that they had \u201cno knowledge\u201d of the alleged incident described in the Instagram post. The Federal Aviation Administration also said in an email to Check Your Fact it has \u201cfound no evidence such an event occurred.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Incidents resulting in planes making emergency landings <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/transportation\/2021\/10\/09\/laguardia-emergency-landing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">often<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/bird-strike-forces-unhealthy-sounding-plane-full-passengers-make-emergency-landing-1638666\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">make<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wreg.com\/news\/local\/airplane-makes-emergency-landing-in-olive-branch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">headlines<\/a>.
