The actress admitted her distaste for water has twice caused her to faint from dehydration.<\/p>\n<p>Hudgens is an outspoken booster of the Biden administration. The <em>High School Musical&nbsp;<\/em>star was elated following President Joe Biden&#8217;s election in November 2020. &#8220;Hallelujah,&#8221; she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CHS_V4dhafM\/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shouted<\/a> in celebration of Biden&#8217;s victory, in an Instagram video that was viewed more than five million times.<\/p>\n<p>But the anti-water mantle Hudgens has picked up puts her in conflict with her allies in the Biden administration. Health Secretary Xavier Becerra has categorically endorsed water on behalf of the administration.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Having access to affordable, clean, and safe drinking water is essential to everybody&#8217;s health and well-being,&#8221; Becerra <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hhs.gov\/about\/news\/2021\/06\/02\/biden-harris-administration-launches-relief-program-to-improve-access-to-affordable-water-services.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> in June.<\/p>\n<p>It wouldn&#8217;t be the first time Hudgens has bucked the established Democratic position on health issues. In March 2020, she railed against coronavirus lockdowns, calling them &#8220;a bunch of bullshit.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Locking down until &#8220;July sounds like a bunch of bullshit. I&#8217;m sorry,&#8221; Hudgens <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/chrisburke\/status\/1240014593830903809?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>. &#8220;It&#8217;s a virus, I get it. Like, I respect it. But at the same time, like, even if everybody gets it, like, yeah, people are gonna die, which is terrible but, like, inevitable?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Despite her tendency to defy Democratic Party doctrine, Hudgens has been a committed activist working to elect Democratic candidates. But her <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/VanessaHudgens\/status\/796092997116968961?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E796092997116968961%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.straitstimes.com%2Fworld%2Funited-states%2Fcelebrities-take-to-social-media-to-say-imwithher-or-just-get-out-the-vote\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">efforts to promote<\/a> Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in 2016 were less successful.<\/p>\n<p>Hudgens\u2019s dislike for water inspired her to back multimillion-dollar cactus fruit beverage brand Caliwater. She said she became obsessed with the fruit after drinking cactus margaritas in Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To have a drink that\u2019s super hydrating, full of electrolytes, and can give me everything I would need out of water is amazing,&#8221; Hudgens said of cactus water.<\/p>\n<p>The actress joins a number of other Biden-aligned celebrities who shun water.
