The precise details of talks between Biden and the oil industry, which the president has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/2021\/01\/27\/remarks-by-president-biden-before-signing-executive-actions-on-tackling-climate-change-creating-jobs-and-restoring-scientific-integrity\/#:~:text=unlike%20previous%20administrations%2C\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">strongly criticized<\/a>, remained unclear.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are closely monitoring the cost of oil and the cost of gas Americans are paying at the pump,\u201d an unnamed White House official told Reuters. \u201cAnd we are using every tool at our disposal to address anti-competitive practices in U.S. and global energy markets to ensure reliable and stable energy markets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Oil and natural gas prices in the U.S. and abroad have <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/10\/04\/oil-prices-organization-of-the-petroleum-exporting-countries-russia-white-house\/\">touched multiyear highs<\/a> in recent weeks as suppliers struggle to meet heightened demand. The average cost of gasoline, closely tied to crude oil prices, and gasoline hit $3.30 per gallon Thursday, AAA data <a href=\"https:\/\/gasprices.aaa.com\/\">showed<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m actually not aware of any contact with oil and gas companies around this particular issue,\u201d White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/press-briefings\/2021\/10\/13\/press-briefing-by-press-secretary-jen-psaki-october-13-2021\/\">said<\/a> Wednesday when asked about the Reuters report.<\/p>\n<p>Psaki also confirmed that Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and Secretary of State Antony Blinken met to discuss rising fuel prices on Tuesday evening.
