The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rasmussenreports.com\/public_content\/lifestyle\/coronavirus\/parent_school_protests_protected_by_first_amendment_most_voters_agree\">Rasmussen Reports poll<\/a> of likely voters conducted this week, found that 88 percent of respondents believe it\u2019s very important for parents to be involved.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, just 10 percent of respondents said it\u2019s only \u201csomewhat important.\u201d This comes after Attorney General Merrick Garland ordered the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to investigate parents involved in protests about school policies, accusing parents of \u201cdomestic terrorism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, most respondents said protests by parents are \u201cclearly protected by the First Amendment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are parents, and we have every right to speak passionately and publicly about our children\u2019s education. To post on social media. To write open letter to school board members,\u201d said Maud Maron, New York City council candidate and former prosecutor. \u201cTo submit op-eds to newspapers. To form advocacy organizations with other parents. To organize protests. To show up to school board meetings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Maron wrote, \u201cthat\u2019s not domestic terrorism. It\u2019s good parenting. It\u2019s patriotism.
