After being founded in 1775, October 13 was officially designated as the branch\u2019s birthday.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s theme is \u201cresilient and ready,\u201d which officials say represents the history of the Navy and its ability to shake off disaster. This includes, most recently, the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>The day is meant to show appreciation and encourage pride in the naval service. The navy\u2019s secretary delivered a message, thanking all sailors and their families for their service.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>\u201cThe future of our Navy and our nation is in your hands,\u201d stated Carlos del Toro, U.S. Navy Secretary . \u201cThank you for your service, and may God bless you and your families as we begin out 246th year.
