(Anna Moneymaker \/ Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span class=\"article-authors\">\u00a0By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/dcnf\/ \"><span class=\"ff-author\">Kaylee Greenlee<\/span><\/a><br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"ff-date\"><br \/>\nOctober 12, 2021 at 11:08am <\/span><\/p>\n<\/header>\n<section>The Department of Homeland Security will stop mass raids of illegal immigrant workers at job sites and instead target employers, the agency announced Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The department plans to focus on \u201cemployers who exploit the vulnerability of undocumented workers,\u201d Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dhs.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/publications\/memo_from_secretary_mayorkas_on_worksite_enforcement.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">memorandum<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe deployment of mass worksite operations, sometimes resulting in the simultaneous arrest of hundreds of workers, was not focused on the most pernicious aspect of our country\u2019s unauthorized employment challenge: exploitative employers,\u201d Mayorkas said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese highly visible operations misallocated enforcement resources while chilling, and even serving as a tool of retaliation for, worker cooperation in workplace standards investigations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cExploitative employers\u201d also hurt law-abiding American workers and businesses because they pay illegal workers substantially less, creating an unfair labor market, Mayorkas said.<\/p>\n<div id=\"in-article-trending\" class=\"in-article-more inner-content\">\n<p>Trending:<\/p>\n<div class=\"in-article-more-right\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/attorney-entire-family-given-covid-vaccine-instead-flu-shot-2-children-now-suffering-heart-issues\/\" data-type=\"Internal link\" data-type-location=\"in-content-trending\">Attorney: Entire Family Given COVID Vaccine Instead of Flu Shot, 2 Children Now Suffering Heart Issues<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>DHS officials were directed to stop all \u201cmass worksite operations\u201d and focus enforcement actions against \u201cunscrupulous employers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The agency will adopt policies to diminish the demand for illegal workers and worsen consequences for employers who hire them.<\/p>\n<p>The directive includes a policy review order aimed at making it easier for illegal workers to report employers\u2019 abusive practices to the federal government.<\/p>\n<p><em>Content created by the Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience.
