Why do you still sell ice cream in Georgia? Texas \u2014 abortion bans. Why are you still selling there?\u201d&nbsp;asked Axios\u2019 Alexi McCammond.<\/p>\n<p>After a six-second pause, a frazzled Cohen told McCammond, \u201cI don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s an interesting question,\u201d he attempted to answer. \u201cI don\u2019t know what, what that would accomplish. We\u2019re working on those issues, of voting rights, and \u2014 I don\u2019t know. You know, I mean, I think you ask a really good question. And I think I\u2019d have to sit down and think about it for a bit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McCammond later claimed \u201cevery woman\u201d who lives in Texas has been \u201cstripped\u201d of abortion \u201crights,\u201d further pressing the Ben &amp; Jerry\u2019s co-founders on their Israel stance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy that reasoning, we should not sell any ice cream anywhere,\u201d Cohen offered. \u201cI\u2019ve got issues with what\u2019s being done in almost every state and country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Greenfield tried to rationalize the disconnect. \u201cOne thing that\u2019s different is that what Israel is doing is considered illegal by international law,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd so I think that\u2019s a consideration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the discussion, McCammond asked how the pair felt about loyal customers having an issue with their Israel policy, particularly since they\u2019re both Jewish men.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou have some loyal customers who think that the move is anti-Semitic,\u201d the Axios reporter said. \u201cYou\u2019re both Jewish men; how did it feel personally to be wrapped up in accusations of being anti-Semitic?\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"cue-group style-scope ytd-transcript-body-renderer\" readability=\"34.5\">\n<div class=\"cues style-scope ytd-transcript-body-renderer\" readability=\"39\">\n<p>\u201cTotally fine,\u201d Cohen said, laughing. \u201c.. I mean, what, I\u2019m anti-Jewish? \u2026 I\u2019m a Jew, my family is Jewish, my friends are Jewish.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Greenfield said the Israel boycott is \u201cnot a financial stance; it\u2019s a policy stance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p role=\"button\">\u201cBen &amp; Jerry\u2019s publicly supported Occupy Wall Street, Black Lives Matter, but over the years the company continues to sell more ice cream and thrive,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/backlash-from-inside-ben-jerrys-franchisees-losing-money-want-israel-boycott-gone\">The Daily Wire<\/a> highlighted in August that Ben &amp; Jerry\u2019s franchisees located in major American cities wrote a letter asking Unilever to rescind the Israel boycott due to profit losses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is a danger that the pursuit of social justice will descend into political correctness or result in the adoption of overly simplistic solutions by people who share a single view of the world that misconstrue complex problems in which multiple claims of justice are implicated,\u201d the letter stated. \u201cThe imposition of such narrow prescriptions does not advance social justice or the pursuit of a values-led business in any meaningful way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThose who feel strongly about Israel that they want to boycott it or some part of the territory it administers are free to do so,\u201d the letter closed. \u201cThey cannot, however, do that at our expense.
