Scott Applewhite, File)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h5>OAN Newsroom<br \/>UPDATED 9:43 AM PT \u2013 Monday, October 11, 2021<\/h5>\n<p>According to former FDA commissioner Scott Gottlieb, vaccine mandates for children remain a \u201clong way off.\u201d During an interview on Sunday, he said the CDC is going to want to see how the virus plays out post-pandemic and \u201chow much of a risk it poses to children.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gottlieb went on to suggest a possible mandate for children ages 12-to-17 \u201ccould be a couple of years away,\u201d adding it may be even longer for kids ages five-to-11.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>\u201cI think that\u2019s a very long way off,\u201d he asserted. \u201cCertainly CDC\u2019s gonna look at children ages 12-17 differently than five-11. The older kids \u2014 the high school kids, the middle school kids \u2014 do seem to get into trouble more with COVID. It\u2019s harder to control in those settings, so that\u2019s gonna be considered separately. But even that is, I think, a multi-year effort. I don\u2019t think that\u2019s going to happen anytime soon.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Most states\u2019 vaccine mandates apply to children and teens.
