The School Board\u2019s 2022 Legislative Program is aimed at precise sections of existing laws and potential laws relating to instruction, funding, assessment and accountability, staffing, developing new schools and governance that are vital to the success of its mission.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Under a new section headed, \u201cPriority Items,\u201d the 2022 legislative program states, \u201cHold Harmless Enrollment Funding.\u201d It continues, \u201cSupports a funding model that does not penalize school divisions for instructions in enrollment due to the COVID-19 pandemic. School divisions all across Virginia experienced a decline in Average Daily Membership (ADM), which is what the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) used to calculate School division funding.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"10.261127596439\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Loudoun?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Loudoun<\/a> SB is asking the Dems in Richmond to let them keep their funding in spite of dropping enrollment. <\/p>\n<p>They don\u2019t want you involved in your child\u2019s education. They just want your money. <\/p>\n<p>We need a new majority in November. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/VoteRed?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#VoteRed<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/SaveVirginia?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#SaveVirginia<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/DxBoLfLFld\">pic.twitter.com\/DxBoLfLFld<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Loudoun Inspire (@LoudounInspire) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LoudounInspire\/status\/1447307568418787330?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 10, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Daily Wire has <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/how-loudoun-county-became-the-apex-of-the-fight-against-critical-race-theory\/\">noted<\/a>, \u201cBetween 2018 and 2020, LCPS spent&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/campus\/loudoun-county-schools-spend-hundreds-of-thousands-on-critical-race-theory\/\">$422,500<\/a>&nbsp;in taxpayer funds on diversity training programs hosted by The Equity Collaborative, a California-based consulting firm.&nbsp;Following (George) Floyd\u2019s death, the district re-committed itself to promoting social justice in the classroom and sought out the assistance of Learning for Justice \u2014 the left-wing Southern Poverty Law Center\u2019s teaching arm \u2014 to craft the district\u2019s new curriculum. The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/campus\/virginia-mandates-slavery-lessons-for-kindergarteners\/\">proposed lesson plans<\/a>&nbsp;recommended restructuring history and social studies classes to emphasize slavery as fundamental to American society for students from kindergarten to fifth grade.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In February 2021, news reports revealed Loudoun County refused to celebrate iconic author Dr. Seuss\u2019 birthday, March 2, which had been celebrated across the nation for over 20 years as \u201cRead Across America Day,\u201d founded by the National Education Association.<\/p>\n<p>The county stated, \u201cRealizing that many schools continue to celebrate \u2018Read Across America Day\u2019 in partial recognition of Dr. Seuss\u2019 birthday, it is important for us to be cognizant of research that may challenge our practice in this regard. As we become more culturally responsive and racially conscious, all building leaders should know that in recent years there has been research revealing radical undertones in the books written and the illustrations drawn by Dr. Seuss.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/loudoun-teachers-target-parents-critical-race-theory-hacking\/\">report<\/a> from mid-March 2021, Luke Rosiak of The Daily Wire documented how teachers who were currently employed at the time joined with former teachers in Loudoun County and \u201ccompiled a lengthy list of parents suspected of disagreeing with school system actions, including its teaching of controversial racial concepts \u2014 with a stated purpose in part to \u2018infiltrate,\u2019 use \u2018hackers\u2019 to silence parents\u2019 communications, and \u2018expose these people publicly.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At the end of April 2021, The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/public-school-graphic-dubs-christians-as-privileged-women-children-as-oppressed\/\">reported<\/a> that an \u201cequity director\u201d in Loudoun County\u2019s public school district \u201csent out a graphic claiming that Christians are privileged and women, children, and people over the age of 50 experience \u2018oppression.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In May 2021, a Loudoun County elementary school teacher was placed on administrative leave for refusing to affirm transgender identity in children. He was later <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/judge-reinstates-va-teacher-suspended-for-refusing-to-affirm-trans-identity-for-kids-calls-school-response-vindictive\">reinstated<\/a> by a judge, but in June the Loudoun County school board in Virginia <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/va-school-district-takes-fight-against-teacher-who-spoke-out-against-trans-pronoun-policy-to-state-supreme-court\/\">appealed<\/a> the judge\u2019s order.<\/p>\n<p>Also in June, Virginia parents filed a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/virginia-parents-file-lawsuit-against-school-board-over-equity-ambassador-program\/\">federal lawsuit<\/a> against the LCPS district\u2019s school board for allegedly \u201cviolating students\u2019 free speech rights.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
