During an interview on Thursday, Trump said McConnell gave Democrats time to figure out what they were going to do on the debt ceiling when they were in a \u201cbig bind.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McConnell and 10 other Republicans joined Democrats to overcome a filibuster regarding the debt ceiling extension. Trump contended the Kentucky lawmaker needed to be replaced as Senate GOP leader.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Republican Senate needs new leadership. I\u2019ve been saying it for a long time. Mitch is not the guy. He\u2019s not the right guy. He\u2019s not doing the job. He gave them a life line. It\u2019s more than life line. He gave them so much time now to figure out what to do because they were in a real big bind.
