Vice President Kamala Harris\u2019 flight to Vietnam in August was <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/24\/kamala-harris-flight-singapore-vietnam-havana-syndrome\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">delayed<\/a> for hours after her office was informed of possible Havana Syndrome at the U.S. embassy.<\/p>\n<p>A 2018 scientific review commissioned by the State Department assessed that insects were \u201cmost likely\u201d the cause of the condition, as opposed to <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/05\/10\/us-havana-syndrome-russia-gru-intelligence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">targeted energy attacks<\/a> by Russian spies, BuzzFeed News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buzzfeednews.com\/article\/danvergano\/havana-syndrome-jason-crickets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>State Department officials have previously said they were not receiving adequate treatment and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/senate-bill\/1828\/text\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">bill<\/a> commits the U.S. government to increasing the medical report provided to victims, CNN <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/10\/08\/politics\/havana-act-signed\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>. The bipartisan bill was authored by Republican Sen. Susan Collins of Maine and co-sponsored by Republican Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida and Democratic Sens. (Photo by Hector Vivas\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Marc Polymeropoulos, a former senior CIA official who came back from Moscow in 2017 with the syndrome, told the Daily Caller News Foundation it was \u201coutstanding\u201d that the bill achieved the rarity that is bipartisan support. He said the signing of the bill was a \u201cvalidation\u201d of the struggles those affected by the syndrome face, \u201cbecause a lot of people within the U.S. government didn\u2019t believe it occurred.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He expressed satisfaction that the bill was going to provide financial relief to people who \u201cspent thousands of dollars out of pocket on our own medical care.\u201d While Polymeropoulos said more could \u201cabsolutely\u201d be done to help, he said the bill was a positive step towards the U.S. government righting a wrong.<\/p>\n<p>Polymeropoulos said he has basically had a headache for almost four years and recently experienced a bout of extreme dizziness, vertigo, and ringing in his ears. \u201cI suffered a debilitating injury \u2026 it\u2019s always with me,\u201d he told the DCNF. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/21\/cia-havana-syndrome-india\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: CIA Director\u2019s Team Showed Signs Of Mysterious \u2018Havana Syndrome\u2019 During Trip Abroad)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Out of all the government agencies handling the situation, Polymeropoulos said the State Department is the one that needs to catch up. \u201cUnlike at the CIA where Bill Burns has met with, I think, every individual [who] has been affected by this, Secretary of State Blinken had not until recently,\u201d Polymeropoulos said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat you really need is a whole of government approach,\u201d he said. \u201cBut, for whatever reason, State\u2019s behind.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Content created by The Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience.
