In an interview Thursday, the New Jersey lawmaker said China has violated Taiwan\u2019s airspace and is playing dangerous games.<\/p>\n<p>The Democrat senator also warned a miscalculation could result in danger for the entirety of Taiwan. Menendez asserted that Taiwanese fighters are being thrown off by China\u2019s interference. He compared what was happening in Taiwan to what had happened in Hong Kong, saying the country has much at risk.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is part of China\u2019s coercive efforts against others who they believe have to be exclusively in their domain,\u201d explained Menendez. \u201cThis is why strengthening our relationship with Taiwan is so important.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Taiwanese officials have said they are not seeking military confrontation, but they are willing to do what it takes to defend their freedom.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">China&#8217;s FM: <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/US?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#US<\/a> should fully recognize the highly sensitive nature of <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Taiwan?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Taiwan<\/a>-related issues, abide by One-China principle &amp;3 China-US communiques &amp;stop arms sales to &amp;military ties with Taiwan.
