And it\u2019s very simple.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/10\/07\/senate-republicans-filibuster-democratic-bill-raise-debt-ceiling\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Congress Skirts Nationwide Economic Catastrophe After Last-Minute Agreement To Lift Debt Ceiling)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Schumer\u2019s victory lap was not only criticized by Senate Republicans but also by some in his own party.<\/p>\n<p>Most notably, Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia sat behind Schumer with his head in his hands as Schumer spoke. The moderate also did not hold back when asked about Schumer\u2019s remarks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t think it was appropriate at this time,\u201d Manchin told CNN\u2019s Manu Raju on Thursday evening. \u201cI just think that basically what we\u2019ve got to do is find a pathway forward, to make sure that we de-weaponize. We have to de-weaponize.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"11.543715846995\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Manchin tells us he didn\u2019t like Schumer\u2019s speech after the vote to break a filibuster on the debt ceiling. \u201cI didn\u2019t think it was appropriate at this time,\u201d he said, arguing that \u201cwe need to de-weaponize\u201d and stop \u201cplaying politics \u2026 That was not a way to take (frustration) out\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/TsGDsMNAqK\">pic.twitter.com\/TsGDsMNAqK<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Manu Raju (@mkraju) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mkraju\/status\/1446282303064481792?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 8, 2021<\/a> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Unlike Schumer, Manchin said that \u201cboth sides\u201d were \u201cplaying politics\u201d on the debt ceiling for weeks, even as the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/10\/05\/yellen-debt-ceiling-economic-recession-senate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">risk of default<\/a> rose.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoth sides have been very guilty of this, and the frustration was built up,\u201d Manchin said. \u201cAnd I\u2019m sure (Schumer\u2019s) frustration was (high), but that was not a way to take it out. We just disagree. I\u2019d have done it differently.\u201d&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/10\/07\/schumer-says-debt-ceiling-default-deal-reached\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Schumer Announces Debt Ceiling Deal)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With a debt ceiling extension past the Senate, the bill heads to the House for final approval before reaching the desk of President Joe Biden for his signature.
