Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) that would hire a \u201cdiverse and equitable\u201d group of 1.5 million young Americans to \u201ccomplete federally-funded projects that help communities respond to climate change and transition to a clean economy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) argued in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/infrastructure-trillion-reconciliation-bernie-sanders-biden-american-jobs-plan-ajp-11628023540?mod=hp_opin_pos_1\"><span>The Wall Street Journal<\/span><\/a><span> that the reconciliation bill will parry climate change through Ocasio-Cortez\u2019s legislation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cPerhaps most important, we will begin the process of shifting our energy system away from fossil fuels and toward sustainable energy to combat the existential threat of climate change,\u201d wrote the lawmaker, who presently chairs the Senate Budget Committee. \u201cThis effort will include a nationwide clean-energy standard that moves our transportation system, electrical generation, buildings and agriculture toward clean energy.
