His profile remains suspended, and new content has not been posted to it since before Facebook issued the suspension.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Facebook\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/en.facebookbrand.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">platforms<\/a> \u2013 Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp \u2013 experienced a widespread hours-long outage across the world on Monday, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/facebook-whatsapp-instagram-outage-8b9d3862ed957029e545182a595fdce1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Associated Press<\/a>. The cause of the outage was a \u201cfaulty configuration change,\u201d Facebook <a href=\"https:\/\/engineering.fb.com\/2021\/10\/04\/networking-traffic\/outage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a> in a press release.<\/p>\n<p>A viral Instagram post attempted to suggest Trump\u2019s Instagram access was restored when Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp came back online after the outage, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CUrBEnTrGzB\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;ig_rid=99be0669-2408-42de-bc2d-2f3697d05005\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">saying<\/a>, \u201cThe Network Goes Down..And Boom Guess Who\u2019s Bizzack When the Lights Come On??\u201d It includes a screen grab of Trump\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/realdonaldtrump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">verified Instagram page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Facebook <a href=\"https:\/\/about.fb.com\/news\/2021\/01\/responding-to-the-violence-in-washington-dc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">announced<\/a> on Jan. 7, the day after Trump supporters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/spotlight\/us-capitol-riots-investigations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">stormed<\/a> the U.S. Capitol building, that it had indefinitely blocked Trump from using his Facebook and Instagram accounts. In response to the Facebook Oversight Board\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/about.fb.com\/news\/2021\/05\/facebook-oversight-board-decision-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">decision<\/a> on the case, Facebook <a href=\"https:\/\/about.fb.com\/news\/2021\/06\/facebook-response-to-oversight-board-recommendations-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a> in June that it would suspend Trump from its platforms for two years and \u201clook to experts to assess whether the risk to public safety has receded\u201d at the end of that time period.<\/p>\n<p>There is no indication in <a href=\"https:\/\/about.fb.com\/news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Facebook press releases<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/about.instagram.com\/blog\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Instagram blog posts<\/a> that the period of Trump\u2019s suspension from the platforms has changed. While his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/realdonaldtrump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Instagram<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/DonaldTrump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Facebook<\/a> accounts are visible, the most recent posts on the respective pages both date back to before Jan. 7. <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/J2Eqi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Archived<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/kvVDr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">screen<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/DSYAm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">grabs<\/a> of his Facebook and Instagram accounts show they have been <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210223212004\/https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/realdonaldtrump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">visible<\/a> but <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210223212004\/https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/realdonaldtrump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">unchanged<\/a> since his suspension.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for Facebook confirmed to Check Your Fact via email Thursday that Trump\u2019s Instagram account remains suspended and unable to post new content. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/06\/03\/fact-check-donald-trump-facebook-reinstated-june\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Were Donald Trump\u2019s Facebook And Instagram Accounts Restored On June 2?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Check Your Fact <a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/06\/03\/fact-check-donald-trump-facebook-reinstated-june\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">previously debunked<\/a> a similar, viral claim that Trump\u2019s Facebook and Instagram accounts had been restored in early June.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A viral Instagram post claims former President Donald Trump returned to Instagram following the recent Facebook outage.
