The tweet reads, \u201cNew Forced Control: NYU Langone and other Hospitals in New York and Long Island are Forcing that if the Parent is not VAXXED they will not release Babies From NICU to Parents or after birth as per CDC Guidelines. You Need to Show VAX-Passport to see your own New Born Baby.\u201d That claim also appeared on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CUiOQAHJAeD\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;ig_rid=0160f274-e75b-4629-91a4-e4cc9abd0acb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Instagram.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>There is, however, no indication New York hospitals are refusing to let unvaccinated parents take their newborn babies home. Neither the <a href=\"https:\/\/coronavirus.health.ny.gov\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New York State Department of Health<\/a> nor <a href=\"https:\/\/nyulangone.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NYU Langone Health<\/a>, the medical center mentioned in certain iterations of the claim, express such a policy on their respective websites. Instead, both the New York State Department of Health and NYU Langone Health have refuted such claims circulating online.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe New York State Department of Health is deeply disturbed by the grossly inaccurate messages being spread on social media regarding the false claim that there\u2019s a prohibition on parents\/guardians taking a baby home from the hospital based upon vaccination status,\u201d reads a New York State Health Department statement provided to Check Your Fact via email by a spokesperson. \u201cThere is simply no truth to these claims. This is part of a larger dangerous misinformation campaign.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>NYU Langone Health <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/nyulangone\/status\/1444323249941270530\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tweeted<\/a> Oct. 2: \u201cIn response to the false &amp; completely unfounded post circulating on social media: NYU Langone DOES NOT prohibit a parent\/guardian from taking a child home from the NICU due to their vaccination status\u2014we vehemently discourage the spread of this inaccurate, harmful information.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"10.503012048193\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">In response to the false &amp; completely unfounded post circulating on social media: NYU Langone DOES NOT prohibit a parent\/guardian from taking a child home from the NICU due to their vaccination status\u2014we vehemently discourage the spread of this inaccurate, harmful information.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 NYU Langone Health (@nyulangone) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/nyulangone\/status\/1444323249941270530?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 2, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"3.8481012658228\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"und\"><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/GXoNQ0qCqS\">pic.twitter.com\/GXoNQ0qCqS<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 NYU Langone Health (@nyulangone) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/nyulangone\/status\/1445403098537725962?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 5, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cIn response to unfounded concerns regarding our neonatal services: No primary parent or guardian will be denied access to their newborn child&nbsp;<em>at any point<\/em> during their hospital stay or during the discharge process, regardless of vaccination status,\u201d NYU Langone Health said in <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/nyulangone\/status\/1445403098537725962\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">an Oct. 5 tweet<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>All visitors are \u201crequired to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or proof of a negative COVID-19 test administered within 72 hours prior to their visit\u201d at NYU Langone Health inpatient locations, according to the organization\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/nyulangone.org\/patient-family-support\/visiting-hours\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">current visitation policies<\/a>. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/03\/03\/fact-check-shriners-patient-ambassador-kaleb-pass-away\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Viral Post Falsely Claims Shriners Hospitals Patient Ambassador Kaleb-Wolf De Melo Torres Passed Away)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Brian Conway, a spokesperson for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gnyha.org\/hospitals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Greater New York Hospital Association,<\/a> also refuted the claim. In a phone call with Check Your Fact, he said, \u201cI\u2019ve heard nothing like that, at all, from any hospitals up here.
