He doesn\u2019t think they should have a say in what their kids are learning in school. And he\u2019s the enemy.\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The American Principles Project tore into Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe in an ad released Wednesday, highlighting the Democrat\u2019s comment that parents shouldn\u2019t \u201cbe telling schools what they should teach.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTerry McAuliffe doesn\u2019t think you should be in charge of your kid\u2019s education,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=wny39nks0Gs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ad<\/a> said. \u201cParents: it\u2019s time to fight back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During a late September gubernatorial debate, Republican candidate Glenn Youngkin challenged McAuliffe on the Democrat\u2019s progressive education stances. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/17\/nbc-critical-race-theory-loudoun-county\/\">(RELATED: A Parent-Led Rebellion Against Critical Race Theory Is Storming School Boards Across The Country)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not gonna let parents come into schools and actually take books out and make their own decisions,\u201d McAuliffe told Youngkin. \u201cI stopped the bill that I don\u2019t think parents should be telling schools what they should teach.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>American Principles Project President Terry Schilling told the Daily Caller News Foundation on Wednesday that \u201cwe are in the midst of a war on families\u201d and on the family\u2019s ability to \u201cdetermine what their children are learning, what they\u2019re exposed to, what they\u2019re allowed to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>WATCH:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Fight Back\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/wny39nks0Gs?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would argue many corporations are at war with parents and families and children for the hearts, minds, and souls of our kids,\u201d Schilling said.<\/p>\n<p>At least 165 local and national groups have formed to combat Critical Race Theory (CRT) instruction in schools across the U.S., <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/wealthy-loudoun-county-virginia-parents-face-threats-battle-over-equity-n1269162\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according<\/a> to an NBC analysis published in June. Many of these groups were founded by parents appalled to discover what was being taught to their children. Their advocacy has launched local CRT debates onto the national stage, spurring far-left activists and establishment media outlets to accuse conservatives of ignorance and, in some cases, racism.<\/p>\n<p>CRT holds that America is fundamentally racist, yet it teaches people to view every social interaction and person in terms of race. Its adherents pursue \u201cantiracism\u201d through the end of merit, objective truth and the adoption of race-based policies.<\/p>\n<p>School districts, such as Loudoun County Public School Systems, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/17\/nbc-critical-race-theory-loudoun-county\/\">often side-step<\/a> parents\u2019 accusations by pretending the problem does not exist \u2014 insisting that they are not implementing CRT. But parents and activists say that the elements of CRT are evident in training, classes, conversations about diversity and equity and reading materials chosen for class, such as books by authors like <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/28\/ibram-x-kendi-awarded-macarthur-genius-grant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ibram X Kendi<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/26\/robin-diangelo-family-guy-comedy-racism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Robin DiAngelo<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s out of control,\u201d Schilling said. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/28\/terry-mcauliffe-glenn-youngkin-parents-schools\/\">(RELATED: Virginia Governor\u2019s Race In Dead Heat One Month Out)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>He continued: \u201cAnd nothing could be more clarifying about this war against parents and the American family than what the Department of Justice just did with Merrick Garland,\u201d referring to a Monday memorandum which encouraged the FBI \u201cusing its authority\u201d against parents who use violence against or threaten public school officials.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThreats against public servants are not only illegal, they run counter to our nation\u2019s core values,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/justice-department-addresses-violent-threats-against-school-officials-and-teachers\">wrote<\/a> Attorney General Garland. \u201cThose who dedicate their time and energy to ensuring that our children receive a proper education in a safe environment deserve to be able to do their work without fear for their safety.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Schilling insisted \u201cthere aren\u2019t any threats,\u201d noting that if there were, these threats would be publicized in every major newspaper and on every major news channel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere would be people in jail, but that\u2019s not happening,\u201d he said. \u201cWhat\u2019s really happening is parents across the country are so outraged that they\u2019re showing up in numbers that these school boards aren\u2019t used to.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The APP president said that school boards \u201caren\u2019t used to the heat\u201d or getting any push back. The reason APP decided to run the ad in Virginia is because of what is at stake in this gubernatorial election, Schilling told the DCNF.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn Virginia you have Terry McAuliffe, who has the same views as these school boards and as the Department of Justice, who views these parents as the enemy,\u201d Schilling said. \u201cHe views them as domestic terrorists. He doesn\u2019t think they should have a say in what their kids are learning in school.
