Given that evidence, a pod camera right there that captured the entire thing and police officers on the scene in uniform, and a squad car there, why that isn\u2019t enough?\u201d Lightfoot said, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox32chicago.com\/video\/985948\">according<\/a> to Fox 32 Chicago.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the bad guys that are out there that are picking up guns and shooting without any regard for the sanctity of life, do not believe that there\u2019s accountability for them, the brazenness will not end. The firefight led to one death and two others were injured.<\/p>\n<p>The shooting was captured by a city camera, and police officers in a marked squad car who arrived on the scene shortly after recovered more than 70 rounds of shells and several gun cases, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/chicago-mayor-lightfoot-prosecutor-gang-shooting-no-charges-war-of-words\">according<\/a> to Fox News. A SWAT team was also called after those inside the house refused to leave.<\/p>\n<p>Police sought to charge all five suspects with murder and and aggravated battery, but a Chicago police spokeswoman said Sunday morning that the suspects had \u201cbeen released without charges,\u201d the Chicago Sun-Times <a href=\"https:\/\/chicago.suntimes.com\/crime\/2021\/10\/3\/22707555\/5-suspects-released-without-charges-deadly-shootout-austin\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A spokeswoman for the Cook County state\u2019s attorney\u2019s office explained in a statement later Sunday that prosecutors <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcchicago.com\/news\/local\/prosecutors-reject-charges-against-5-suspects-in-deadly-gang-related-gunfight\/2628059\/\">concluded<\/a> \u201cthe evidence was insufficient to meet our burden of proof to approve felony charges.\u201d She also said police officials had agreed with their decision. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/28\/chicago-police-department-david-brown-joe-biden-white-house\/\">(RELATED: Chicago Police Chief Blames Criminals Being Released, Illegal Guns For Increasing Violent Crime)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s complicated, for sure,\u201d Lightfoot said during Monday\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox32chicago.com\/video\/985948\">press conference<\/a>. \u201cBut we really urge the state\u2019s attorney herself to get personally involved, look at the evidence, and I believe that there are charges that can be brought at a minimum against the individuals who initiated the gunfire.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Foxx shot back at Lightfoot during a press conference Tuesday morning, calling her comments \u201cinappropriate,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox32chicago.com\/news\/kim-foxx-blasts-chicago-mayor-lori-lightfoots-comments-on-shootout-inappropriate-wrong\">according<\/a> to Fox 32 Chicago.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WATCH:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Kim Foxx blasts Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot&#039;s comments on shootout: &#039;Inappropriate, wrong&#039;\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/N8DWnd-s2gw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI find myself here today having to respond to a narrative given by the mayor,\u201d the state prosecutor said. \u201cThere were statements made by the mayor yesterday regarding the evidence in this case that were simply not true.
