Check Your Fact reviewed the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aamc.org\/advocacy-policy\/washington-highlights\/senate-passes-1-trillion-infrastructure-package\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">text<\/a> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/house-bill\/3684\/text\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">infrastructure bill<\/a> but found no mention of any tax credits or funding for journalists or media organizations. An <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=infrastructrue+bill+media+bailout&amp;oq=infrastructrue+bill+media+bailout&amp;aqs=chrome..69i57.6160j0j7&amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;ie=UTF-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">internet search<\/a> likewise failed to uncover any credible media reports about the bill having any allocations for a media \u201cbailout.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The tweet may be referring to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/house-bill\/3940\/actions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Local Journalism Sustainability Act<\/a>, an entirely different bill that \u201cseeks to provide a pathway to financial viability for local newspapers around the country through a series of three tax credits,\u201d according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/kirkpatrick.house.gov\/2021\/06\/16\/reps-kirkpatrick-newhouse-introduce-local-journalism-sustainability-act\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">press release<\/a> from Democratic Arizona Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/house-bill\/3940\/actions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">introduced<\/a> the bill in June. A major aspect of the bill, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.niemanlab.org\/2021\/09\/some-questions-and-answers-about-the-local-journalism-sustainability-act\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">payroll tax credit<\/a> to help newsrooms hire and retain journalists, is currently included in the $3.5 trillion budget reconciliation package, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seattletimes.com\/opinion\/local-journalism-bill-advances\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Seattle Times<\/a> reported.
