They may see interest rates go up, which will ultimately raise their mortgage payments and car payments.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 President Joe Biden<\/p>\n<div>\n<div id=\"attachment_292385\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-292385\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Anna-MoneymakerStaffGetty-Images.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dw-wp-production.imgix.net\/2021\/10\/Anna-MoneymakerStaffGetty-Images.jpg 600w, https:\/\/dw-wp-production.imgix.net\/2021\/10\/Anna-MoneymakerStaffGetty-Images-300x200.jpg 300w\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-292385\" \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-292385\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Anna Moneymaker\/Staff\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><b>Debt Ceiling<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Congress is gridlocked when it comes to raising the debt ceiling, which authorizes the federal government to borrow more money to pay for previous deficit spending and to finance interest on the national debt.<\/p>\n<p>Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has said since Democrats are content to pass large deficit spending bills on their own, no Republican will join them in voting to raise the debt ceiling this time.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats have talked about eliminating the need for Republican votes by raising the debt ceiling as part of the reconciliation process for their $3.5 trillion social spending package \u2014 but they can\u2019t agree amongst themselves about the amount, or the contents, of the bill.<\/p>\n<p><b>What Now?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has said the Treasury will run out of cash-on-hand on October 18. Once that happens, the United States would not have enough money to pay all its bills, and would technically default on some of its obligations until there is enough revenue to pay them off.<\/p>\n<p><b>Global Markets<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Credit agencies have threatened to downgrade the U.S. credit rating, something that hasn\u2019t happened since 2013.<\/p>\n<p>The credit agencies <a href=\"https:\/\/markets.businessinsider.com\/news\/currencies\/fitch-us-debt-limit-credit-rating-default-aaa-sp-moodys-2021-10\">say<\/a> they won\u2019t downgrade the U.S. credit rating until the Treasury defaults on the first payment.<\/p>\n<p><b>Inflation\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/broader-inflation-pressures-begin-to-show-11633339800?mod=hp_lead_pos1\">announced<\/a> it\u2019s seeing \u201csharp accelerations in underlying inflation,\u201d which means the decades-high inflation this year is a systemic problem.<\/p>\n<p><b>Key Point: <\/b>Economists call inflation a hidden tax, because it reduces the value of the dollar, shrinks real wages and purchasing power, and punishes savers \u2014 especially retirees and people on a fixed income.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_292386\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-292386\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Kevin-DietschStaffGetty-Images4.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dw-wp-production.imgix.net\/2021\/10\/Kevin-DietschStaffGetty-Images4.jpg 600w, https:\/\/dw-wp-production.imgix.net\/2021\/10\/Kevin-DietschStaffGetty-Images4-300x193.jpg 300w\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"385\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-292386\" \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-292386\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Kevin Dietsch\/Staff\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"p2\"><b>2) <\/b><b>Monumental Supreme Court Term Begins<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>The Topline: <\/b>With a 6-3 conservative majority, the high court is set to rule on the carrying of firearms outside the home, taxpayer support for private religious schools, the role of race in college admissions, and the legality of pro-life heartbeat bills.<\/p>\n<p><b>Abortion Case<\/b><\/p>\n<p>In 2018, Mississippi passed a pro-life bill banning abortion after 15 weeks, which was quickly held up in federal court because it directly contradicted <i>Roe v. Wade,<\/i> which said women had a right to an abortion up until at least the fifth month of pregnancy.<\/p>\n<p>On December 1st, the Supreme Court will decide whether the Mississippi law is constitutional.\u00a0 If they rule it is, the decision could allow states across the country to enact sweeping pro-life legislation of their own.<\/p>\n<p><b>Second Amendment Case<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Another case out of New York will help determine whether all Americans have a right to carry a firearm outside the home.<\/p>\n<p>At the moment, New Yorkers hoping to obtain a concealed carry permit must demonstrate a special need for a firearm, meaning a desire for self defense is not enough. This case could change that, and set a precedent moving forward.<\/p>\n<p>If they say all New Yorkers should have access to concealed carry permits, it would open the door for legal challenges to restrictive gun policies in other states.<\/p>\n<p><b>More Cases<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Court will also decide whether states using taxpayer funds to cover school tuition on behalf of parents are allowed to exclude religious schools.<\/p>\n<p>Another major case involves the role of race in college admissions. Kwok\/Bloomberg\/Contributor\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"p2\"><b>3) <\/b><b>China Gets Aggressive With Taiwan<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>The Topline: <\/b>With the Biden administration seeking a diplomatic solution to foreign policy issues and conflicts, China becomes more aggressive in their drive to gain control of Taiwan.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2021-10-04\/taiwan-preparing-for-war-with-china\/100511294\"><b>Quote Of The Day: <\/b><\/a>\u00a0\u201cIf China is going to launch a war against Taiwan, we will fight to the end.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Taiwan Foreign Minister Joseph Wu<\/p>\n<p><b>Indo-Pacific Situation<\/b><\/p>\n<p>On Monday, the Chinese Air Force sent more than 50 military jets into Taiwanese air space, which is the largest incursion ever by China \u2014 at least, for now.
