Period,\u201d Schumer <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/finance\/575137-schumer-congress-needs-to-raise-debt-ceiling-by-end-of-the-week\"><span class=\"s1\">wrote<\/span><\/a> in the letter.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cWe do not have the luxury of waiting until October 18th, as it is our responsibility to re-assure the world that the United States meets our obligations in a timely fashion and that the full faith and credit of the United States should never be in question. The consequences of even approaching the X date could be disastrous for our economy and devastating to American families,\u201d Schumer added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Schumer also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/10\/04\/schumer-aims-to-pass-biden-infrastructure-build-back-better-plans-in-october.html\"><span class=\"s1\">reportedly<\/span><\/a> pushed to pass the bipartisan infrastructure bill and the massive social policy legislation by the end of October.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cWe can get this done, together, if we put aside our differences and find the common ground within our party. It will require sacrifice,\u201d Schumer <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/finance\/575137-schumer-congress-needs-to-raise-debt-ceiling-by-end-of-the-week\"><span class=\"s1\">wrote<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cNot every member will get everything he or she wanted. But at the end of the day, we will pass legislation that will dramatically improve the lives of the American people. I believe we are going to do just that in the month of October,\u201d he added.<b>&nbsp;<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The leader also said he wanted to get to a final deal \u201cwithin a matter of days, not weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">As <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/finance\/575137-schumer-congress-needs-to-raise-debt-ceiling-by-end-of-the-week?rl=1\">reported<\/a> by The Hill, \u201cSchumer, in his letter, warned that if they aren\u2019t able to break the stalemate over the nation\u2019s borrowing limit, then the Senate \u2018will likely be forced to remain in session over this weekend\u2019 and \u2018possibly\u2019 through a one-week recess scheduled to start on Oct. 11.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Last week, Democrats were unable to come to an agreement on the pieces of legislation. Progressives in the House have held fast to their social spending price tag, but moderates in the Senate like Senator Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) and Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) have said they won\u2019t vote for an expensive bill. Moderate House Democrats wanted to see the bipartisan infrastructure bill passed, but progressives were successful in holding it up as negotiations over the larger bill continued.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">President Joe Biden went to Capitol Hill on Friday in order to meet with the House Democratic caucus, but after the meeting, he implied that the timeline of passing the bills wasn\u2019t important. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cWe\u2019re gonna get this done,\u201d Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-after-meeting-doesnt-matter-when-bills-are-passed\"><span class=\"s1\">said<\/span><\/a> as he left the meeting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cIt doesn\u2019t matter when. It doesn\u2019t matter whether it\u2019s six minutes, six days, or six weeks. We\u2019re gonna get it done,\u201d he added.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">As The Daily Wire previously&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-headed-to-congress-to-try-to-salvage-1-2t-infrastructure-bill-pelosi-whipping-votes\"><span class=\"s1\">reported<\/span><\/a>&nbsp;on Friday, \u201cBiden and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) have reportedly been desperately counting votes on the infrastructure bill since yesterday when Pelosi was forced to call off a planned vote on the measure, scheduled to take place around 6:30 pm.
