That former baby, who was born before the Supreme Court\u2019s final decision, sat down with ABC News in an exclusive interview that will air live Monday evening.<\/p>\n<p>Shelley Lynn Thornton <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/daughter-jane-roe-woman-landmark-abortion-case-terms\/story?id=80329351\">told ABC<\/a> that she has never forgiven McCorvey and that she never will. The \u201cRoe baby\u201d said that her mother, who passed away in 2017, should have been more \u201cupfront\u201d about wanting to meet Thornton for media attention. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/09\/roe-v-wade-baby-identity-book-supreme-court\/\">(RELATED: Baby At The Center Of Roe V. Wade Reveals Identity)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can deal with that,\u201d Thornton said. \u201cI can\u2019t deal with lies and treachery and things like that. To me, that\u2019s like no, sorry, not playing that game with you. And that\u2019s all it was. It was a game. It was a game. I was just a pawn, and I wasn\u2019t going to let her do it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thornton never agreed to meet her biological mother in person, and she has \u201cno\u201d regrets about that decision. She wasn\u2019t sorry, about giving me away or anything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thornton spoke with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/politics\/archive\/2021\/09\/jane-roe-v-wade-baby-norma-mccorvey\/620009\/\">author Joshua Prager<\/a> for the journalist\u2019s \u201cThe Family Roe: An American Story,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Family-Roe-American-Story\/dp\/0393247716\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">published<\/a> September 14. The book&nbsp;describes Thornton\u2019s adoption, how she came to meet her biological mother through the work of several curious journalists, how she was anonymously written about in tabloids under the name \u201cthe Roe baby\u201d for years, how she unwittingly became a symbol for the pro-life movement and more.<\/p>\n<p>Thornton personally shrank away from arguments over abortion, Prager wrote, but when she was faced with the possibility to abort her own child, she chose not to, saying that abortion was \u201cnot part of who I was.\u201d&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/05\/19\/jane-roe-roe-v-wade-abortion\/\">(RELATED: Woman At The Center Of Roe V. Wade Claimed She Was Paid To Reject Abortion In Documentary)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In her interview with ABC, Thornton discussed how National Enquirer reporters arranged a meeting with her and her adopted mother, Ruth, where they sprung on her that she was Norma McCorvey\u2019s daughter and the baby at the heart of Roe v. Wade. The reporters then asked her if she was \u201cpro-choice or pro-life.\u201d Thornton said was shocked and fled the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy whole thinking is that, \u2018Oh God, everybody\u2019s going to hate me because everyone\u2019s going to blame me for abortion being legal.\u2019 You know, it\u2019s like \u2018it\u2019s all my fault,\u2019 is pretty much what I was thinking,\u201d Thornton said. \u201cAnd that\u2019s really hard to grasp when you\u2019re in that kind of a situation and you\u2019re just kind of like learning all of this stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Content created by The Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience.
