The survey \u2014 conducted between Sept. 23-27 \u2014 showed the president\u2019s approval rating declining to 85% among Democrats, 38% among Independents and 11% among Republicans, each category\u2019s lowest level of Biden\u2019s presidency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf he had a plan to destroy this country and divide this country, I don\u2019t know how you could carry it out any better,\u201d Larry Schuth, who voted for former President Donald Trump, told the AP. \u201cWe\u2019re spending way too much money. We\u2019re planning on spending even more. We don\u2019t have a southern border.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s approval rating dropped from 49% to 42% among white Americans and all the way from 86% to 64% among black Americans, the poll showed. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/22\/joe-biden-kamala-harris-afghanistan-kabul\/\">(RELATED: POLL: Biden\u2019s Approval Rating Has Gotten So Low That Kamala\u2019s Is Now 6 Points Higher)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Just 34% of respondents said they believe the country is heading in the right direction, and 47% approved of Biden\u2019s handling of the economy. The administration oversaw a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/28\/kenneth-mckenzie-mark-milley-inhofe-senate-armed-services-committee-biden-undercuts-afghanistan-withdrawal\/\">chaotic withdrawal<\/a> from Afghanistan that ended with the Taliban controlling the Middle Eastern nation and fewer Americans <a href=\"https:\/\/covid.cdc.gov\/covid-data-tracker\/#vaccinations_vacc-total-admin-rate-total\">getting vaccinated<\/a> as coronavirus cases <a href=\"https:\/\/covid.cdc.gov\/covid-data-tracker\/\">remained elevated<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the economic recovery has <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/03\/united-states-economy-joe-biden-economic-growth-pandemic\/\">slowed<\/a>, and inflation continues to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bea.gov\/news\/2021\/gross-domestic-product-state-2nd-quarter-2021\">hit<\/a>&nbsp;multi-decade highs. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/24\/joe-biden-defend-administration-record-amid-crises\/\">(RELATED: Biden Defends His Administration\u2019s Record Amid Low Approval Numbers, Multiple Crises)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe bottom line is the President \u2014 these polls show what we have long known: that the President came into office at one of the most divisive moments in modern American history,\u201d White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/press-briefings\/2021\/04\/26\/press-briefing-by-press-secretary-jen-psaki-and-director-of-the-national-economic-council-brian-deese-april-26-2021\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">told<\/a> reporters when asked about the president\u2019s declining approval.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe President\u2019s focus is on fulfilling his promise to bring the country together \u2014 so, in large part, on delivering on the things the American people were \u2014 elected him to do, which there \u2014 we have seen broad approval for: getting the pandemic under control; turning our economy around, especially for working families and the middle class,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n<p>The AP and NORC surveyed 1,099 adults for the survey.
