Immigrants who are a threat to the U.S. and those who have recently entered the country illegally will be deported, he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAre we going to spend the time apprehending and removing the farmworker who is breaking his or her back to pick fruit that we all put on our tables?\u201d Mayorkas told the Post. \u201cBecause if we pursue that individual, we will not be spending those same resources on somebody who does, in fact, threaten our safety. And that is what this is about.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The new order is expected to take effect in roughly two months on November 29.<\/p>\n<p>Though Mayorkas said that migrants arrested recently for entering the U.S. illegally will be deported, the secretary admitted on Sunday that the DHS had released thousands of illegal migrants into the U.S. in the past week alone. Mayorkas said that roughly 12,000 illegal migrants arrested crossing the border near Del Rio, Texas, have been released into the U.S., with potentially thousands more to follow. As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/dhs-secretary-says-12k-illegal-migrants-released-in-u-s-in-recent-weeks-could-be-even-higher\">The Daily Wire<\/a> reported:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"27.258064516129\">\n<p><em>Mayorkas&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TrumpJew2\/status\/1442119361842515969\">appeared<\/a>&nbsp;on \u201cFox News Sunday\u201d and told host Chris Wallace that about 10,000 to 12,000 illegal migrants have been released and the number \u201ccould be even higher.\u201d About 5,000 migrants from the Del Rio border camp are still going through processing.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Mayorkas added that the number of migrants released into the U.S. could increase, as could the number who are returned. \u201cIt could be even higher. What we do is we follow the law as Congress has passed it,\u201d Mayorkas said, according to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/mayorkas-says-as-many-as-12k-out-of-17k-migrants-have-been-released-into-u-s-and-it-could-be-higher-as-dhs\">Fox News<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>A holding pen hastily put together by U.S. Border Patrol officials underneath a bridge near Del Rio, Texas, was mostly&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/del-rio-migrant-camp-nearly-cleared-out-after-housing-around-15000-illegal-immigrants\">cleared<\/a>&nbsp;out by Saturday. The area, which was previously covered in migrant tents and held at its peak roughly 15,000 people, had been mostly bulldozed.
