During Wednesday\u2019s House hearing, Milley claimed U.S. intelligence had determined that China was worried about a potential U.S. attack.<\/p>\n<p>Milley said he reassured Beijing that would not happen, but admitted he would be calling China in case of an escalation. He insisted his actions were not undermining President Trump as commander-in-chief.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat I said to the call to China was I guarantee you that President Trump is not going to attack you in a surprise attack. I was carrying out his [President Trump] intent,\u201d claimed Milley.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Rep. Matt Gaetz: &#8220;We&#8217;re questioning in your official capacity going and undermining the chain of command, which is obviously what you did.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Gen. Mark Milley: &#8220;I did not undermine the chain of command.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Rep.
