American Action Network commissioned the poll of 400 registered voters in each jurisdiction for internal Republican Party use. Former President Donald Trump won Iowa\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Iowa%27s_3rd_Congressional_District_election,_2020\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Third District<\/a> in during the 2020 presidential election, and the other two districts were won by then-candidate Joe Biden.<\/p>\n<p>The new poll is a major blow to top Democrats who have argued that the social spending package is broadly popular with Americans. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.speaker.gov\/newsroom\/92121\">shared<\/a> polling showing that the package has the support of 66% of Americans, including 61% of independents. Congressional Progressive Caucus members pointed to a Quinnipiac University <a href=\"https:\/\/poll.qu.edu\/poll-release?releaseid=3814\">poll<\/a> showing 62% support for a $3.5 trillion spending bill in a CNN <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/09\/27\/opinions\/biden-spending-bill-infrastructure-vote-jayapal-porter-omar\/index.html\">op-ed<\/a> published Monday. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/22\/pramila-jayapal-progressive-caucus-moderates-crash-entire-democratic-agenda\/\">(RELATED: Jayapal Accuses Moderates Of Being \u2018Willing To Crash Entire Democratic Agenda\u2019)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Support for the package among swing district voters shrunk when a pollster informed them of certain provisions in the legislation. Opposition rose above 80% in all three districts when voters were told that the legislation \u201cincreased <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">taxes on the majority of small <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">businesses<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">in the country<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">,\u201d above 70% when voters were told that the legislation provides \u201c$200 million for a park in Nancy Pelosi\u2019s district,\u201d and above 60% when voters were told that the legislation offers \u201ctax breaks to newspapers for every reporter they hire.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p>Democrat Tom Malinowski, who represents New Jersey\u2019s Seventh District, has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northjersey.com\/story\/news\/bergen\/englewood\/2021\/09\/17\/new-jersey-representatives-bill-pascrell-salt-cap-repeal-budget\/8385383002\/\">threatened<\/a> to oppose the Build Back Better Act if it does not eliminate the state and local tax (SALT) deduction cap. Democratic Virginia Rep. Elaine Luria is currently being <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/dc-md-va\/2021\/09\/24\/luria-spanberger-chamber-of-commerce\/\">targeted<\/a> by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to oppose the legislation.
