Speaker Nancy Pelosi has not announced when the House will vote on the reconciliation bill that includes the new OSHA fines.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>If the legislation is enacted, OSHA could levy draconian fines to enforce Biden\u2019s vaccine mandate, a move that could rapidly bankrupt non-compliant companies. The Biden mandate affects employers collectively employing an estimated <\/em><a class=\"color-link\" title=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/legal\/government\/biden-vaccine-mandate-will-test-us-workplace-regulator-2021-09-13\/\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/legal\/government\/biden-vaccine-mandate-will-test-us-workplace-regulator-2021-09-13\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/legal\/government\/biden-vaccine-mandate-will-test-us-workplace-regulator-2021-09-13\/\" aria-label=\"80 million workers\"><em>80 million<\/em><em>workers<\/em>.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The new OSHA regulations are expected to build on the existing \u201cgeneral duty\u201d requirements, which currently demand health-care workplaces implement an \u201cinfection-control plan developed with worker participation\u201d an mandate \u201cthe wearing of masks and respirators,\u201d as well as \u201cCovid-19 screenings at entry points. The current regulation \u201ccompels paid time off for employees to get vaccinated or recover from a shot\u2019s side effects.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>OSHA has shown a willingness, particularly in the Biden administration to pursue \u201cwillful\u201d violations of this clause. <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bloomberglaw.com\/safety\/biden-boosts-osha-virus-enforcement-as-vaccines-herald-changes\">According to Bloomberg Law<\/a>, \u201cPresident Joe Biden\u2018s OSHA, which June 10 released an emergency rule limited to health-care employers, has used the general duty clause against several types of workplaces, from a mobile phone repair shop to a medical clinic.
