But while Democrats have won two presidential elections and flipped a House and Senate seat in the past five years, the new map creates an opportunity for Republicans to control half of the state\u2019s congressional seats in a favorable year.&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/28\/oregon-first-state-officially-adopt-new-congressional-map\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: The First State In The Nation Just Passed Its New Congressional Map. (Colorado Independent Redistricting Commissions)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Under the plan, Democrats would have four safe seats in the 1st, 2nd, 6th and 7th districts, while Republicans would have two safe seats in the 4th and 5th districts and a likely seat in the 3rd. The new 8th district, which was <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/26\/census-congressional-seats-california-new-york-rust-belt-lose-texas-florida-gain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">announced in April<\/a> with the release of the decennial Census data, would be <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Taniel\/status\/1443093262613585925\">competitive<\/a>, with former President Donald Trump carrying it in 2016 and President Joe Biden carrying it in 2020. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/12\/census-bureau-redistricting-data-new-maps-legal-challenges-elections-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Census Drops Long-Awaited Redistricting Data)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With the new seat being the most competitive, Colorado\u2019s seven House incumbents could all run in a relatively favorable environment in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>This is the first time Colorado has used an independent commission to create its maps.
