Concerns about Afghanistan and economic issues contributed to Biden&#8217;s unpopularity among state residents. Just 25 percent of respondents approve of his administration&#8217;s chaotic troop withdrawal from Kabul last month, and only 34 percent support his handling of the economy.<\/p>\n<p>The poll numbers are the latest sign of voters&#8217; growing dissatisfaction with the president, who received nearly 49 percent of the vote in North Carolina during last year&#8217;s presidential election. Biden&#8217;s national approval rating has plummeted to 43 percent from a high of 57 percent in January, <a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/354872\/biden-approval-rating-hits-new-low-harris.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according<\/a> to a Gallup poll released last week. And in bellwether Iowa, 62 percent of residents disapprove of Biden&#8217;s performance as president, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.desmoinesregister.com\/story\/news\/politics\/iowa-poll\/2021\/09\/21\/president-joe-biden-job-approval-rating-plunges-after-afghanistan-covid-surge\/8378224002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according<\/a> to a recent <em>Des Moines Register<\/em> poll.<\/p>\n<p>Biden has faced a series of crises since his inauguration, including <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/ig-blasts-bidens-handling-of-border-crisis-as-surge-overwhelms-del-rio\/\">record<\/a> illegal immigration at the southern border, surging COVID-19 cases, and <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/latest-news\/economists-warn-stagflation-is-back\/\">elevated<\/a> inflation. His administration&#8217;s botched withdrawal from Afghanistan, during which a terrorist attack killed 13 U.S. service members, has helped cause a recent drop-off in his approval rating, especially among independents.
