On Monday, a procedural vote to advance consideration of a continuing resolution to keep the government funded through December 3 while suspending the debt limit failed as a potential shutdown looms.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans voted to oppose the bill from advancing through the upper chamber, which they said was in response to the Democrats\u2019 attempts to push the multi-trillion dollar reconciliation package through without GOP support.<\/p>\n<p>Despite Republican opposition, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) used a procedural loophole to allow him to brined the measure back to the floor for reconsideration and voiced his frustration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Republican Party has now become the part of default, the party that says America doesn\u2019t pay its debts,\u201d said the New York lawmaker.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans, meanwhile, are saying the real problem is that the Democrats\u2019 reconciliation bill is one of the \u201cbiggest, most reckless spending social bills in U.S. history.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver three and a half trillion dollars, a spending spree that will be the largest in a generation, will include the largest tax hike that we\u2019ve seen in peacetime,\u201d stated Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska). \u201cAnd something that the majority leader himself has called the largest transformation in a generation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sullivan added, this is trying to transform America with \u201ccradle-to-grave socialism.\u201d Meanwhile, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said Democrats are to blame for the potential shutdown.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey have every single tool they need to do their job,\u201d he asserted. \u201cThe democratic leader, the Speaker of the House and the President of the United States have had 10 weeks to plan for funding the government and addressing the debt limit. There never had to be one ounce of drama for any of this. Any drama here is self created by the Democrats.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Tonight Senate Democrats blocked a clean bill to fund the government.
