Over the weekend, an unidentified 30-year-old officer was reportedly responding to a call of gun shots in South Shore when she saw an injured person in the middle of the road.<\/p>\n<p>According to authorities, the officer was struck several times in the leg as she got out of her vehicle to assist the individual. She was transferred to the hospital shortly after.<\/p>\n<p>One person was fatally shot and a teen was wounded during the incident the officer was responding to.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have 2 people in custody. We have one individual who\u2019s been deceased and then there\u2019s a 15-year-old who is still in critical condition at the hospital,\u201d explained Chief of Detectives Brendan Deenihan, Chicago Police Department. \u201cWe\u2019ve recovered two handguns so far and we\u2019ve also recovered a rifle during the execution of a search warrant.
