The photographer that took the photos, however, came out a few days later and said that the photos were being \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/photographer-who-took-horseback-border-patrol-photos-ive-never-seen-them-whip-anyone\">misconstrued<\/a>\u201d and that he had never seen any Border Patrol agent conduct themselves in that manner.<\/p>\n<p>When Doocy asked about Biden\u2019s suspect claim that the photos showed that the illegal immigrants were being \u201cstrapped,\u201d Mayorkas responded, \u201cthe horses have long reins, and the image in the photograph that we all saw, and that horrified the nation, raised serious questions about what it \u2014 let me finish \u2014 about what occurred and of \u2014 as I stated quite clearly, it conjured up images of what has occurred in the past.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet me just be very clear and repeat what I\u2019ve said: I am not concerned with respect to the integrity of the investigation,\u201d Mayorkas continued. \u201cWe know how to conduct an investigation with integrity. I served as \u2014 12 years as a federal prosecutor. Just to go back, please, to the images of these mounted Border Patrol officers: You said on Saturday \u2014 or rather, on the 20th, \u201cTo ensure control of the horse, long reins are used.\u201d The person who took these photos of the Border Patrol agents says, \u201cI\u2019ve never seen them whip anyone.\u201d So, why is the President out there today talking about people being \u201cstrapped\u201d?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>ALEJANDRO MAYORKAS, DHS SECRETARY: So let me \u2014 let me correct the statements in your question, if I may. It was \u2014<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>DOOCY: They\u2019re direct quotes.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>MAYORKAS: No, no \u2014 if I may. It was on Friday when I was \u2014 actually, it was on Monday, I believe, when I was in Del Rio on the ground and I made the statements without having seen the images. I saw the images on the flight back, and I made the statement that I did with respect to what those images suggested.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>There \u2014 the horses have long reins, and the image in the photograph that we all saw, and that horrified the nation, raised serious questions about what it \u2014 let me finish \u2014 about what occurred and of \u2014 as I stated quite clearly, it conjured up images of what has occurred in the past.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Let me \u2014 let me finish.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>There\u2019s also a question of how one uses the horse and how one interacts with individuals with the horse. And so I\u2019m going to let the investigation run its course. I\u2019m not going to interfere with that investigation. The facts will be determined by the investigators, and then the results will be driven by the facts that are determined.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>DOOCY: And just to follow up, please \u2014 before the facts are in, is it helpful to your investigation for the President of the United States to use inflammatory language, like people being \u201cstrapped\u201d?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>MAYORKAS: Let me just be very clear and repeat what I\u2019ve said: I am not concerned with respect to the integrity of the investigation.
