Biden\u2019s latest message contradicts months of previous statements in which he originally claimed booster shots were only needed after eight months. Although, later on he changed the number to six months, then five, and then only for Pfizer vaccine recipients.<\/p>\n<p>His comments come as his Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) director went around her own committee\u2019s recommendation against booster shots, instead endorsing them for frontline workers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe we can best serve the nation\u2019s public health needs by providing booster doses for the elderly, those in long-term care facilities, people with underlying medical conditions, and for adults at high risk of disease from occupational and institutional exposures to COVID-19,\u201d said Dr. Rochelle Walensky in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, earlier this week the Food and Drug Administration expanded the emergency use authorization for Pfizer\u2019s vaccine, allowing some people to receive a third dose.
