(AP Photo)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h5>OAN Newsroom<br \/>UPDATED 1:29 PM PT \u2013 Friday, September 24, 2021<\/h5>\n<p>On Friday, Congressman Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C.) announced plans to introduce legislation to prohibit the U.S. military code from placing restrictions on servicemembers\u2019 right to bear firearms.<\/p>\n<p>The bill, entitled the Protect Gun Rights Act, targets Democrat efforts to strip servicemembers\u2019 rights to keep and bear arms through red flag laws.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDemocrats have no right to dictate to our servicemembers, the most patriotic and dedicated Americans among us, when or how they exercise their Second Amendment rights,\u201d said Cawthorn on Friday. \u201cOur military needs to be funded, built up and defended, but Democrats want to, instead, disarm our servicemembers. This is an outrageous action and I will defend their right to keep and bear arms.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We need to normalize FREEDOM in this country.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Madison Cawthorn (@CawthornforNC) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CawthornforNC\/status\/1440101970606391297?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 20, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The North Carolina congressman\u2019s legislation would prohibit Democrats from stripping Second Amendment rights away from U.S. servicemembers.
