Guy Reschenthaler and passed as part of the 2022 fiscal year\u2019s National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The amendment prohibits all <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/10\/bipartisan-bill-defund-gain-of-function-research-wuhan-institute-virology\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">federal funding<\/a> to EcoHealth Alliance. The non-profit group directed millions of dollars in National Institutes of Health (NIH) grants to the Wuhan Institute of Virology over a period of several years.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"9.4763513513514\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\u201cWuhan scientists were planning to release enhanced airborne coronaviruses into Chinese bat populations to inoculate them against diseases that could jump to humans, leaked grant proposals dating from 2018 show.\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/nXuNKU9aHt\">https:\/\/t.co\/nXuNKU9aHt<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Richard H. Ebright (@R_H_Ebright) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/R_H_Ebright\/status\/1440423160042590208?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 21, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cIt is deeply disturbing that EcoHealth Alliance funneled American taxpayer dollars to support dangerous and potentially deadly research at the WIV, a laboratory run by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and tied to military biological research and the probable origin of the COVID-19 pandemic,\u201d Reschenthaler said in a release.&nbsp;\u201cI am proud to lead this effort to end the flow of defense funding to EcoHealth Alliance, and I thank my colleagues for including my amendment in the defense authorization bill and ensuring Americans\u2019 hard-earned money never again funds risky experiments in labs operated by our adversaries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to grants from the NIH, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/07\/defense-threat-reduction-agency-ecohealth-alliance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">EcoHealth also received<\/a> at least $37.5 million from a Department of Defense sub-agency. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/15\/inspector-general-national-institutes-health-ecohealth-wuhan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Inspector General To Investigate NIH Grants Linked To Wuhan Institute Of Virology)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Republicans have been <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/05\/14\/republicans-bill-scott-perry-wuhan-institute-virology-covid-19-coronavirus-nih\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">gradually introducing measures<\/a> to strip American funding from <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/09\/ecohealth-alliance-gain-of-function-higher-viral-load-anthony-fauci\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the WIV<\/a> since the lab emerged at the center of the lab-leak theory of COVID-19\u2019s origin.
