James Comer (R-KY) wrote a letter on Thursday to Hunter\u2019s New York art dealer, Georges Berges, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2021\/09\/23\/comer-demands-ethics-rules-for-hunter-bidens-art-show\/\">requesting<\/a> that he provide the committee with documents on the ethics guidelines reached with the White House as well as information on the buyers and potential buyers of the younger Biden\u2019s art, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/who-wants-to-buy-hunter-bidens-art-joe-biden-james-comer-georges-berges-11632344727\">including<\/a>&nbsp;\u201cdocuments and communications pertaining to setting the prices for Mr. Biden\u2019s art.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe documents requested from you will inform and are pertinent to our oversight of any\u200b \u200battempts to seek improper influence with the Biden Administration by anonymous benefactors,\u200b \u200band understanding the process you are purportedly undertaking to shield the Administration from any influence by those procuring Mr. Biden\u2019s art\u200b,\u201d Comer wrote in the letter, which was sent on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>This investigation, which includes your gallery\u2019s role\u200b \u200bin Mr. Biden\u2019s plans, is meant to prevent fairly obvious opportunities for an ethical or national security breach\u200b,\u201d Comer wrote.<\/p>\n<p>This is the second letter Comer has sent to the gallery owner this month requesting documents relating to the sale of Hunter\u2019s art pieces.<\/p>\n<p>The scandal-plagued son of President Biden has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/hunter-bidens-weird-artwork-to-get-nyc-exhibition-expected-to-fetch-1-million\">embraced<\/a> a new life as a full-time artist and is getting his paintings shown this fall in Los Angeles and New York City, where they are expected to fetch upwards of $1 million each.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe won\u2019t know who they are, so there\u2019s no scenario where they could provide influence,\u201d White House press secretary Jen Psaki <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/press-briefings\/2021\/07\/22\/press-briefing-by-press-secretary-jen-psaki-and-secretary-of-commerce-gina-raimondo-july-22-2021\/\">said<\/a> in July of potential purchasers of Biden\u2019s art.<\/p>\n<p>The younger Biden\u2019s abstract paintings and collages, which sometimes resemble bacteria under a microscope, sometimes depict human body parts, were initially set to sell for $75,000 for works on paper and $500,000 for large paintings, but that number has increased.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t paint from emotion or feeling, which I think are both very ephemeral,\u201d Biden said in a June <a href=\"https:\/\/news.artnet.com\/art-world\/hunter-biden-gallery-show-1979790\">interview<\/a> with artnet.com. \u201cFor me, painting is much more about kind of trying to bring forth what is, I think, the universal truth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The president\u2019s son, 51, has&nbsp;no formal art training but has been reportedly creating art since he was very young.<\/p>\n<p>The lawyer, former lobbyist, and former drug addict has been dogged by high-profile political and personal scandals, some of them&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/hunter-biden-homeless-crackhead-bicycle\">salacious<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In leaked emails from 2014 reported by the New York Post, Biden&nbsp;<a class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2020\/10\/14\/hunter-biden-emails-show-leveraging-connections-with-dad-to-boost-burisma-pay\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"slk:appears to try to leverage\" data-rapid_p=\"8\" data-v9y=\"1\">appears to try to leverage<\/a>&nbsp;his influence with his father, who was vice president at the time and heavily involved in U.S. policy on Ukraine.
