Kathy Hochul told reporters in early September that she was unaware \u201cof a sanctioned religious exemption from any organized religion,\u201d dismissing the idea that healthcare workers could be religiously exempt from the state\u2019s vaccine mandate. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/18\/cnn-religious-covid-vaccine-exemptions\/\">(RELATED: CNN Expert Wants Biden Admin To Create \u2018Guidelines\u2019 To Weed Out Fake Religious Vaccine Exemptions)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<span class=\"m_-8520364800846946101DefaultParagraphFont\">To the extent that there\u2019s leadership of different religious organizations that have spoken, and they have, I\u2019m not aware of a sanctioned religious exemption from any organized religion,\u201d Hochul said. \u201cIn fact, they\u2019re encouraging the opposite. They\u2019re encouraging their members, everybody from the&nbsp;<span class=\"il\">Pope<\/span>&nbsp;on down, is encouraging people to get vaccinated.&nbsp;<\/span><span class=\"m_-8520364800846946101DefaultParagraphFont\">So people will say what they choose.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Burch emphasized that politicians are not moral theologians and have \u201cno business inserting themselves\u201d into the decisions of religious organizations or individuals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCatholic Church leaders need to be resolute, and send a clear message that the federal government has no authority to tell the Church what they can or cannot believe,\u201d Burch said. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/21\/religious-exemption-objection-vaccine\/\">(RELATED: Vaccine Inquisitions? When the constitutional rights of Catholics and politics come into conflict, government coercion always wins. Just ask the Little Sisters of the Poor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The CatholicVote.org president\u2019s comments refer to the Catholic Little Sisters of the Poor and their battle with the Supreme Court to avoid paying for employees\u2019 birth control against their religious beliefs. Multiple figures in the Biden administration, including Biden,&nbsp;Vice President Kamala Harris, and Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/08\/17\/religious-freedom-biden-harris-abortion-little-sisters-of-the-poor\/\">have stood against<\/a> the Little Sisters of the Poor.<\/p>\n<p>A Biden administration official told the DCNF Tuesday that protecting religious Americans \u201cwill be part of the policy process.\u201d The administration did not immediately respond to requests for further comment.<\/p>\n<p>Content created by The Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience.
