The regulation will cut HFC emissions by 85% over the next 15 years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEPA\u2019s historic action is a major step towards addressing the climate crisis by slashing these \u2018super pollutants,&#8217;\u201d EPA Administrator Michael Regan <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EPAMichaelRegan\/status\/1441008575741059076\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tweeted<\/a>. \u201cIt also reaffirms when (President Joe Biden)\u2069 thinks about climate, he thinks about jobs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Manufacturers of refrigerators, air conditioners and other appliances or materials that use HFCs will be forced to transition to \u201cnext-generation technologies,\u201d an EPA announcement <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epa.gov\/system\/files\/documents\/2021-09\/hfc-allocation-rule-nprm-fact-sheet-finalrule.pdf\">said<\/a>. The bill was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kennedy.senate.gov\/public\/2019\/10\/sens-kennedy-and-carper-file-legislation-to-save-jobs-during-phasedown-of-hydrofluorocarbons\">first introduced<\/a> by Republican Sen.
