President Joe Biden is facing criticism from <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/23\/texas-house-republican-biden-border-crisis\/\">all sides<\/a> over his handling of the current border crisis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will not be associated with the United States inhumane, counterproductive decision to deport thousands of Haitian refugees and illegal immigrants to Haiti, a country where American officials are confined to secure compounds because of the danger posed by armed gangs in control of daily life,\u201d Foote wrote in his resignation letter, which was addressed to Secretary of State Antony Blinken.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur policy approach to Haiti remains deeply flawed, and my recommendations have been ignored and dismissed, when not edited to project a narrative different from my own,\u201d Foote added.<\/p>\n<p>PBS News\u2019 Yamiche Alcindor noted that the resignation was \u201cconfirmed by multiple sources.\u201d The White House and State Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"13.231707317073\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">This is confirmed by multiple sources inside both the governments of Haiti and the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>Special Envoy for Haiti, Amb Daniel Foote, wrote in his resignation letter: \u201cOur policy approach to Haiti remains deeply flawed, and my recommendations have been ignored and dismissed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Yamiche Alcindor (@Yamiche) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Yamiche\/status\/1441006117979631617?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 23, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Over 10,000 migrants, many from Haiti, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/17\/migrants-haiti-overwhelm-officials-del-rio-texas\/\">overwhelmed<\/a> border officials in Del Rio, Texas, in mid-September. The Biden administration began deporting these migrants \u2013 who had been camping under the Del Rio International Bridge \u2013 back to Port-Au-Prince, the capital of Haiti, using a Trump-era policy dubbed Title 42. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/20\/republican-governors-joe-biden-border-crisis\/\">(RELATED:&nbsp;Republican Governors Demand Meeting With Biden To Discuss Border Crisis)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The policy was enacted in March 2020 amid the global pandemic and allows for the expulsion of migrants at the border due to a 1944 public health law. Biden has faced backlash from members of his own party for continuing to use Title 42 and House Democrats signed a letter Wednesday demanding answers from the administration.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-axufdj evys1bk0\">\u201cReports that thousands of migrants are being deported to Haiti despite turmoil in that country raise serious concerns about whether the federal government is failing to treat migrants \u2014 including those fleeing violence, political instability, and natural disasters \u2014 with respect and dignity and affording them a meaningful opportunity to seek asylum,\u201d lawmakers wrote, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/09\/22\/us\/politics\/house-democrats-haitian-migrants.html\">according<\/a> to The New York Times.<\/p>\n<p>Amid the deportations, some Haitians are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/americas\/conditions-worsen-migrant-camps-both-sides-us-mexico-border-2021-09-22\/\">being allowed<\/a> to stay in the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/22\/haitian-migrant-release-us-del-rio-texas\/\">country<\/a>. The administration has been unable to provide numbers on how many Haitians have been deported, how many have been processed and how many have been allowed to remain in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>White House press secretary Jen Psaki <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/press-briefings\/2021\/09\/22\/press-briefing-by-press-secretary-jen-psaki-september-22-2021\/\">defended<\/a> the administration\u2019s use of <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/20\/us-mexico-del-rio-migrants-deported-haiti\/\">Title 42<\/a> while saying Biden is \u201ccommitted to putting in place a humane and orderly immigration system that includes an established and efficient process for applying for asylum, that includes a range of programs for individuals to apply to stay in the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd we are continuing to expel people coming from a range of countries, as we are continuing to apply Title 42, because there is a global pandemic that is ongoing,\u201d Psaki said Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are applying immigration laws. We are applying what are \u2014 what are border requirements.
