The mailers, one of which was obtained by the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/virginiaproject.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Virginia Project<\/a>,&nbsp;have targeted over&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/capitalresearch.org\/article\/watch-out-virginia-another-flood-of-mail-in-ballot-mailers-headed-your-way\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">two million<\/a>&nbsp;voters across 134 Virginia&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/capitalresearch.org\/app\/uploads\/VPC-CVI-Virginia-2021-Absentee-Ballot-Mailer-Counts.xlsx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">counties and cities<\/a>,&nbsp;urging them to register for mail-in ballots ahead of&nbsp;the November election, when Virginians will vote for their next governor and control of the House of Delegates.<\/p>\n<p>The SEIU\u2014which in 2020 gave&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/capitalresearch.org\/app\/uploads\/labor-grants-to-cvi.csv\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$40,000<\/a>&nbsp;to the center\u2014has&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/seiu2020.org\/vote-by-mail\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">encouraged<\/a>&nbsp;mail-in voting, and its logo affixed to the mailer indicates an institutional endorsement of the registration campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Higher voter turnout driven by mail-in ballots may prove crucial to former governor Terry McAuliffe&#8217;s (D.) reelection campaign, particularly in populous Fairfax County, a Democratic stronghold that the Center for Voter Information plans to flood with nearly 420,000 mailers. Mail-in ballots have typically favored Democrats, with Biden voters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/elections\/2020\/08\/18\/election-2020-biden-voters-twice-likely-vote-mail-survey-finds\/3394795001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">twice as likely<\/a>&nbsp;as Trump voters to vote by mail in the 2020 election. A Republican victory in Virginia would be a sign of trouble for Democrats ahead of the 2022 midterm elections.<\/p>\n<p>Jason Snead, the executive director of the watchdog&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.honestelections.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Honest Elections Project<\/a>, said the left supports voting by mail to secure more votes, even with a cost to election integrity.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The left ultimately wants mail-in voting without ballot safeguards in every election, automatically delivered to every voter, a permanent early voter list, no voter ID\u2014it&#8217;s always vote by mail plus these other things,&#8221; he told the <em>Washington&nbsp;Free Beacon<\/em>. &#8220;But these mechanisms have been repeatedly shown to have security problems which allow for fraud, coercion, bribery, and vote-buying.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The center ran a vote-by-mail campaign in 2020 that targeted 15 million voters in swing states. It calls those voters the &#8220;New American Majority,&#8221; a left-leaning bloc that consists of &#8220;young people, people of color and unmarried women&#8221; whom liberal strategists <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/organization\/democracy-alliance-da\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">consider<\/a>&nbsp;&#8220;central to progressive long-term success.&#8221; A February <em>Time<\/em> article <a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/5936036\/secret-2020-election-campaign\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hailed<\/a> the center&#8217;s success in registering 4.6 million new mail-in voters as&nbsp;a secret reason for Democrats&#8217; winning the 2020 election.<\/p>\n<p>Although the Center for Voter Information is officially nonpartisan for tax purposes, it&nbsp;spent&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.opensecrets.org\/outsidespending\/recips.php?cycle=2020&amp;cmte=C90009317\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$583,000<\/a>&nbsp;in outside expenditures that directly aided 2020 Democratic candidates, including Joe Biden.<\/p>\n<p>The center&#8217;s founder,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/person\/page-gardner\/\">Page Gardner<\/a>, is a former Bill Clinton campaign staffer who has advised Democrats on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/democracycorps.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Dcor_WV_RAE-Panel_June_Report_7.13.2017.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">partisan voter registration<\/a>&nbsp;efforts among the &#8220;New American Majority&#8221; to cement progressive control over Congress and the White House.<\/p>\n<p>An SEIU political director in 2016 <a href=\"https:\/\/static.politico.com\/64\/47\/b971249843558514c9c6aff87765\/democracy-alliance-spring-meeting-agenda.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">spoke<\/a> alongside Gardner at a Democracy Alliance panel on&nbsp;&#8220;opportunit[ies] to take back many states from right-wing control.&#8221; The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/organization\/democracy-alliance-da\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Democracy Alliance<\/a>&nbsp;is a major networking group for left-wing donors and strongly supports the center&#8217;s activism.<\/p>\n<p>Other donors to the Center for Voter Information include the left-wing&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/sierra-club\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sierra Club<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/league-of-conservation-voters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">League of Conservation Voters<\/a>,&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/tides-foundation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tides Foundation<\/a>, which in 2017 gave the center&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tides.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/2017-Tides-Foundation-Fed-Form-990-amended.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$25,000<\/a>&nbsp;for &#8220;mobilizing unmarried women in the 2018 [election] cycle.&#8221;
