Richard Shelby unveiled their own government funding bill late Tuesday as House Democrats passed their own that is almost certain to fail.<\/p>\n<p>The duo\u2019s bill shares many similarities to the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/21\/house-democrats-pass-government-funding-debt-ceiling-bill-dead-on-arrival-senate-shutdown\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Democrats\u2019 bill<\/a>, allocating similar funds for the resettlement of Afghan refugees and for natural disaster response. But it omits a debt ceiling suspension, a provision included in the House bill which Republicans have <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/15\/think-im-bluffing-mitch-mcconnell-doubles-down-against-debt-ceiling-raise-government-shutdown\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">vowed to oppose<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The legislation also includes $1 billion to help replenish Israel\u2019s iron dome, a provision <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/21\/democrats-scrap-1-billion-israeli-defense-funding-bill-doomed-iron-dome\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">scrapped<\/a> from the House bill that is set to be included in the National Defense Authorization Act.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRepublicans and Democrats have undergone bipartisan, bicameral negotiations for weeks to keep the government open and provide emergency aid. This bill reflects those urgent priorities,\u201d Shelby, the top Republican on the Senate Appropriations Committee, said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.appropriations.senate.gov\/news\/shelby-mcconnell-introduce-continuing-resolution\">statement<\/a>. \u201cImportantly, our legislation includes funding for the Iron Dome, making good on our commitment to a historic and significant ally, and removes the Democrats\u2019 ill-conceived language on the debt limit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMembers on both sides of the aisle can support this measure, and I urge them to do so with haste,\u201d Shelby added. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/13\/congress-barrels-toward-debt-ceiling-catastrophe-janet-yellen-chuck-schumer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Congress Barrels Toward Debt Ceiling Catastrophe As Shutdown Looms)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7287475\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" readability=\"32\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-7287475\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sen. But with Democrats\u2019 legislation set to be voted on \u2014 and filibustered \u2014 Friday, Congress will have less than a week to reach a compromise to fund the government before it shuts down on Oct. 1.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans have also repeatedly opposed a debt ceiling increase, giving Democrats a month to raise it before the entire country risks a debt default.
