Josh Gottheimer, but is sure to anger the furthest-left members of the party. Those Democrats, led by New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Washington Rep. Pramila Jayapal, have promised to block the IIJA if it is not brought to the floor for a vote at the same time as the $3.5 trillion Build Back Better Act.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats will bring the Build Back Better Act to the floor for a vote \u201cas soon as it\u2019s ready,\u201d Hoyer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/newsletters\/playbook-pm\/2021\/09\/21\/sinema-house-mods-get-their-way-494417?nname=playbook-pm&amp;nid=0000015a-dd3e-d536-a37b-dd7fd8af0000&amp;nrid=0000014e-f0ed-dd93-ad7f-f8edad790000&amp;nlid=964328\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a>, according to Politico.<\/p>\n<p>The moderate faction <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/24\/democrats-house-of-representatives-joe-biden-budget-infrastructure-stalemate-nancy-pelosi-moderates-congress\/\">agreed<\/a> in late August to vote to begin the reconciliation process in exchange for Pelosi\u2019s promise that she would bring the IIJA to the floor on Sept. 27. The moderates had previously <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/13\/house-moderates-block-budget-infrastructure-law-nancy-pelosi\/\">vowed<\/a> to oppose a budget resolution until the IIJA, which passed the Senate 69-30, passed the House.<\/p>\n<p>Pelosi and President Joe Biden had previously promised to pass both bills simultaneously, with Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/24\/joe-biden-bipartisan-infrastructure-package-without-reconciliation-bill\/\">threatening<\/a> to veto the IIJA unless the two are passed \u201cin tandem.\u201d The IIJA <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/10\/senate-passes-infrastructure-package-dozen-republicans-join-dems-kyrsten-sinema-rob-portman-joe-biden\/\">contains<\/a> traditional infrastructure spending, including roads, bridges, broadband internet, and the U.S.\u2019s electrical grid, while the Build Back Better Act is <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/04\/sanders-if-republicans-wont-support-3-5-trillion-wish-list-then-we-have-to-do-it-alone\/\">expected<\/a> to include massive amounts of social spending, including universal preschool and a Medicare expansion. <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/12\/infrastructure-investment-and-jobs-act-kyrsten-sinema-rob-portman\/\"><strong>(RELATED: ANALYSIS: Special Pork Projects Drive The Biden Infrastructure Deal Through The Senate)<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Build Back Better Act will not be brought to the House floor by Sept. 27, and Democratic leadership is struggling to keep all of its members on board. A key drug pricing provision was <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/15\/drug-prices-house-energy-commerce-committee-nancy-pelosi-joe-biden-pharmaceutical-industry\/\">blocked<\/a> in committee on Sept. 15 after three Democrats voted with Republicans to kill it. Florida Rep. Stephanie Murphy, a key moderate, voted against the bill in the Ways and Means Committee, although she has said that she will vote for a final package that is \u201cappropriately targeted and fiscally responsible.\u201d North Carolina Rep. Alma Adams, a co-chair of the HBCU Caucus, has also threatened to oppose the bill if it does not include new funding for historically black colleges and universities.<\/p>\n<p>In the Senate, West Virginia\u2019s Joe Manchin and Arizona\u2019s Kyrsten Sinema have expressed skepticism about the size of the package, with Manchin calling for a \u201cstrategic pause\u201d due to inflation concerns. Manchin has reportedly <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/20\/joe-manchin-push-budget-back-2022\/\">expressed<\/a> interest in waiting until 2022 to pass the legislation.<\/p>\n<p>Looming over the IIJA vote is the threat from far-left lawmakers to block the legislation. The Progressive Caucus has 96 members, and chairwoman Jayapal has <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/20\/progressives-double-down-vow-tank-infrastructure-without-budget\/\">promised<\/a> that the group will \u201conly vote for the infrastructure bill after passing the reconciliation bill.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"14.969444444444\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Rep.
