According to recent reports, some Alabama medical centers said they\u2019ve already run out of the treatments with others struggling to find enough.<\/p>\n<p>A jump in demand for the treatment has had some officials claiming there is a national shortage. This comes after the treatment\u2019s popularity has grown since being deemed successful in holding off the effects of COVID.<\/p>\n<p>Alabama public health officials said they\u2019ll know how much of an impact the rationing will have in the coming week.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I will fight like hell to overcome Biden\u2019s cruel decision to drastically reduce lifesaving monoclonal antibody treatments for Floridians. We&#8217;ve seen steep reductions in hospital admissions due to early treatment efforts. It\u2019s wrong to penalize Florida for his partisan bitterness. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/24APj0r50K\">pic.twitter.com\/24APj0r50K<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Ron DeSantis (@GovRonDeSantis) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GovRonDeSantis\/status\/1438676026335408130?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 17, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Alabama State Health Officer Scott Harris commented on the shortage and the uncertainty for the future. \u201cI mean, I\u2019m hopeful it doesn\u2019t mean a cut for us, but really at this point I\u2019m just not sure. We just haven\u2019t seen their formula exactly and don\u2019t know how it\u2019s going to play out,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime in Texas, where Gov. Greg Abbott (R) received the treatment when he tested positive for the virus, health officials there have said they\u2019re concerned as well.
