John Kennedy (R-La.) said on \u201cFox &amp; Friends.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) also questioned the drone ban, which he said has grounded drones that were being used by news organizations to cover the border crisis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAny government stifling of First Amendment activities is unacceptable,\u201d Johnson wrote to Troy Miller, acting commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).<\/p>\n<p>The ban was imposed on the same day that Fox News flew a drone in the area and captured aerial footage of the immigrants.<\/p>\n<p>The FAA said in <a href=\"https:\/\/tfr.faa.gov\/save_pages\/detail_1_9857.html\">announcing the ban<\/a> that it was driven by \u201cspecial security reasons.\u201d Johnson asked what those reasons were. Diana Harshbarger (R-Tenn.), Brian Babin (R-Texas), and Jim Jordan (R-Ohio.).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe FAA\u2019s conveniently placed a ban on drones flying over the international bridge where [10,000 plus] illegal aliens are waiting to be processed\u2014preventing media from covering the scene,\u201d Babin wrote on Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>President Joe Biden \u201cdoesn\u2019t want you to see what a disaster he\u2019s created,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The FAA, CBP, and the White House did not respond to early morning requests for comment.<\/p>\n<p>The White House did not hold a briefing on Friday and Biden traveled to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware for the weekend without speaking to reporters. He has no public events scheduled.<\/p>\n<p>The FAA said Friday in a statement that Fox applied for and received clearance to operate drones in the restricted airspace and directed any other media organizations wanting to apply for exemptions to the restrictions <a href=\"https:\/\/www.faa.gov\/uas\/advanced_operations\/emergency_situations\/\">to its website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While Fox\u2019s drones were still grounded, correspondent Bill Melugin went up in a helicopter with the Texas Department of Public Safety and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BillFOXLA\/status\/1438928880035930120\">recorded<\/a> fresh aerial video footage and photographs.<\/p>\n<div class=\"one_author_block round\">\n<div class=\"top_row\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/WEB_ZacharyStieber-1.jpg\" alt=\"Zachary Stieber\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"names\">\n<p>Zachary Stieber<\/p>\n<p>Reporter<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Follow<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Zachary Stieber covers U.S. news, including politics and court cases.
