These documents we\u2019ve gotten from the FDA and our other lawsuit\u2026they are the worst things I\u2019ve ever seen,\u201d Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton told the Daily Caller News Foundation Friday. \u201cThe most troubling documents I\u2019ve ever seen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a Friday statement to the DCNF, the FDA did not deny purchasing the unborn baby body parts and downplayed its use of human fetal tissue, saying it was only used in situations \u201ccritical to understanding the safety of drugs and vaccines and in which it couldn\u2019t be feasibly achieved through another means.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince 2018, the FDA has not entered into any contracts for the purchase of human fetal tissue,\u201d the FDA told the DCNF, adding that \u201cprior research involving human fetal tissue accounted for a very small fraction of the FDA\u2019s total research.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Judicial Watch obtained the communications, which span 2012 and 2013, through a 2019 Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/press-releases\/judicial-watch-sues-health-and-human-services-for-documents-on-human-fetal-tissue-used-in-humanized-mice-testing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/press-releases\/judicial-watch-sues-health-and-human-services-for-documents-on-human-fetal-tissue-used-in-humanized-mice-testing\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1631991861299000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHvP29KpB_BW3n7wff50B6iAWnUGQ\">lawsuit<\/a> against the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2019\/12\/09\/planned-parenthood-tram-nguyen-fetal-livers\/\"><b>(RELATED: Planned Parenthood Employee Testified She Wanted To \u2018Move Forward\u2019 On Selling Fetal Livers For $750 Each)<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit asked for all communications and documentation between the FDA and the human fetal tissue provider Advanced Bioscience Resources (ABR) related to human fetal tissue intended for use in humanized mice research \u2014 a process in which researchers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.niaid.nih.gov\/research\/humanized-mouse-model-workshop\">implant<\/a> undeveloped human tissue cells into living mice.<\/p>\n<p>A federal court <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/JW-v-HHS-order-00876.pdf\">then ordered<\/a> HHS to release more information about aborted fetal tissue harvesting and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/press-releases\/aborted-fetuses-information\/\">said<\/a> \u201cthere is reason to question\u201d whether the transactions violate federal law, which bans the sale of fetal organs, according to Judicial Watch.<\/p>\n<p>Fetal tissue has been <a href=\"https:\/\/chancellor.ucsf.edu\/blog\/response-administrations-actions-fetal-tissue-research\">used<\/a>&nbsp;in a number of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/senate.universityofcalifornia.edu\/_files\/reports\/rm-jn-mb-restrictions-fetal-tissue-research.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">research projects<\/a>&nbsp;looking for cures and treatments including Alzheimer\u2019s, spinal cord injury, eye disease and HIV, but religious and pro-life advocates argue the practice is unethical since the fetal tissue comes from aborted babies.&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2019\/06\/07\/fetal-tissue-research\/\">(RELATED: Is Fetal Tissue Research Vital To Medicine? Here\u2019s What The Experts Say)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Under former President Donald Trump\u2019s administration, HHS <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2019\/06\/05\/trump-cancel-fetal-tissue-research-government-funding\/\">conducted<\/a>&nbsp;a nine-month review of government-funded research involving&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2018\/08\/17\/planned-parenthood-video-abortions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">fetal tissue from elective abortions<\/a>, culminating in HHS banning the NIH internal research team from using fetal tissue in July 2019.<\/p>\n<p>President Joe Biden\u2019s administration <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/16\/joe-biden-roe-v-wade-department-of-health-and-human-services-donald-trump\/?filter_by=popular&amp;p=374&amp;page=66&amp;ref=hexometer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reversed<\/a> this ban in April.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo now the Biden FDA is defending chopping up the parts of unborn human beings to create vaccines,\u201d Fitton said to the DCNF. \u201cIs that their position?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat they don\u2019t tell you,\u201d he continued, \u201cis that the funding was cut off under Trump. There should be a criminal investigation to figure out whether the laws against profiteering for fetal organ trafficking were violated as a court suggested they may have been.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Planned Parenthood Federation of America has <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/04\/14\/planned-parenthood-david-daleiden-stemexpress-fetal-body-parts-payments-lawsuit\/\">repeatedly defended itself from accusations<\/a> that it sells fetal tissue. The organization <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/planned-parenthood-stops-taking-reimbursements-for-fetal-tissue-1444744800\">publicly<\/a> acknowledged that they were paid for fetal tissue but said that they were only reimbursed for costs, then <span id=\":18a.co\" class=\"tL8wMe EMoHub\" dir=\"ltr\">subsequently said they would no longer accept even reimbursements.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Pro-life activists like David Daleiden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/pittsburgh-live-fetus-organs\">have previously noted<\/a> that some unborn babies may have cardiac activity when their organs are harvested, suggesting the babies may have still been alive.
